The original 5 spoke very differently from modern day teenagers. But I guess I'm the only one who bothered to read re-prints so that probably doesn't even matter.

I've read them. But, for all that he did right, Stan was never very good at writing believable teen dialogue. Maybe that's how teenagers talked when he was a kid (in the 40's), but I really doubt it. This O5 seems to have retained the spirit of the characters, that had actually yet to be developed by the time X-men #8 was on the supermarket spinners. But they aren't out of character. Actually, I think Bendis is doing great with the characters in this book.
does anyone else think with all this time travel, younger selves, and wierd brain math, Hank McCoy mite come outta this with a lot less fur? some sorta timechange/quantum depowerment?
oh and the thing with the kid mimicing Cyclops powers and not blowing a hole through his face makes sense, he (Scott) would have control of his abilities if it wasnt for the brain trauma/mental issues. makes sense that the kid would copy his abilities NOT his mental hang ups
@dangallant984: I've actually talked to people who were young in that era about this, and they agree that while the dialogue is corny, there was definitely more thought given to word choice. A statement like "So weird!" is very "loose" to them. But, as I said, it's not like in Marvel History's floating timeline the X-Men were even born around the '60s, anyway. The Original 5 were probably born in the late 80s or early 90s at this point.

Wait Young Beast is 12?!?! Or am I missing something.
Bit of a retcon there if it isn't an error. IIRC Hank was originally the oldest, and was around 18 or 19, with Scott, Warren and Jean being around 17 and Bobby being the youngest at 16.
@PhoenixoftheTides: which, having been born in 1980, should make it even weirder for me.. and yet I have no problem with it.. wait, does that mean I'm the same age as the O5 who aren't from the past?

not a retcon, just Wolverine being super old methinks.. undermining Hank's authority because he's not old enough to drink.
