Has you all asking the wrong question we all know "why" and "how" marvel could do this to us. My friends, the true question is how the hell Greg Land got this job?! How, how, how does he keep getting work period?! How much coke was the editor snorting when he said "You know who should do this event issue...Rob f'n Liefeld, baby!!!! Oh he doesn't work for us anymore? Hell, okay, how about...GREG LAND!!!! Yeah, that guys awesome. I mean did you take a look at how he draws Emma's rack?! Now THAT'S what the fans want. That's the kind of Iconography that I want to leave an indelible mark on the minds of our fans!" Seriously though how the unholy frak does one look at this
And say that THIS is the man worthy of sending off one of our longest running, most beloved flagship titles (this time...for we all know it will happen again).X-Men
Team » X-Men appears in 13416 issues.
The X-Men are a superhero team of mutants founded by Professor Charles Xavier. They are dedicated to helping fellow mutants and sworn to protect a world that fears and hates them.
The "Demise" of Uncanny X-Men...
I'm sorry. I lost complete track of what you were saying soon as you told me to look at Shanna there.
I'm sorry. I lost complete track of what you were saying soon as you told me to look at Shanna there.LMAO!!!!
That image isn't even from Uncanny X-Men. I don't see what the rant about Greg Land has to do with Marvel's current trend in cancelling & relaunching books.
I know it isn't the point of it is to illustrate how bad an artist Land is. And my point is that the issue isn't the cancel/rename/relaunch/renumber cycle. Any longterm Marvel reader should know that's as big a part of their nature as reboots are a part of DC's. My point is that The X-Men "cancellation" should be far less offensive than the fact that the man chosen to take art duties is cheesecake crafting Hack. I say if you're going to do wrong, do it right. If you're going to pull a stunt, at least do it with some class. That image isn't even from Uncanny X-Men. My problem with Land is the faces of all the female characters look the virtually same. Yes they all have the T&A most fanboys look for but come on there should be some differentiation between the characters. Now I know capturing facial expressions can be hard but
and I am certainly no artist, but my god its like they all have the same look all the time. Any way as a long time comic fan you know they nothing is gone forever and sooner of later Uncanny X-Men will be back even though I think it is a huge mistake to cancel the title.
Hit the nail on the head. Land traces and recycles the same figures for all his works. That Shana up the is his Emma, that Sue is a White Storm...

lmao. so true. he should try to come up with new references.
True, I mean expecting to produce original models is asking a bit much. Ask only what a man can give I guess.
But I like Dodson's art.... v__vI'm hoping they use the canceling/renumbering/whatever the heck they're doing as an opportunity to boot Land and the Dodsons off the book.
@War Killer: I get the Land stuff but I never understood the Dodson hate, yes he makes women's faces look similar but a lot of them do.I can understand where people may get annoyed by the whole "all of his women have the same faces" deal, but personally it really doesn't bother me or even really registers to me that much to be honest. But I can agree that sometimes Dodson will rush his art and it'll come out poorly drawn, for the most part though I really like his art.
I am fairly certain the ratio of women with eyes closed to eyes open is meant to be 1:2 and not 2:1. At a minimum.
3 characters on a cover? If one of them has her eyes closed? Other two characters must have their eyes open. I mean, its odd just have one character with closed eyes, and smiling or pouting. Just look at any Daredevil cover. Does he look like he just washed his hair with Herbal Essences shampoo/conditioner? Exactly. If your eyes are closed, don't smile like that and don't pout. If you are? Make sure you have other characters on panel that also aren't doing the same thing. At least two. Its just a law that should not be broken. So someone, please, please justify FFS, why the BLOODY HELL THERE ARE TWO WOMEN WITH EYES SHUT ON THAT COVER AND ONLY ONE WITH EYES OPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A few hours ago my wife looked over my shoulders (as I was reading comics again) and asked, "Are there ANY women superheroes that DON'T have huge breasts?"
Me: Define "women"
Her: Female!
Me: Oh yeah! Lots of them! Valeria Richards doesn't have large breasts.... course...she's only four...
Her: Any ADULT females?
Me: Well, there are skrull females that shape-shift into male form.
Her: Other than that?
Me: Um... Not that I know of, no...
