Havork x-factor
3 X-Force
Cable's X-Force
2 X-Men Gold team

the full list is here, my computer is being a pain.
15 Generation X
Banshee, Emma Frost & of course Jubilee
14 Gambit & the Externals
13 X-Factor
Havork x-factor
12 Ultimate X-Men
11 The Original X-Men
Cylops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Iceman & Angel
10 Astonishing X-Men
Ellis Warren team
9 Astonishing X-Men
Joss Whedon X-Men
8 Uncanny X-Men
Current X-Men
Out of all the past team, i think I would like to see the blue team in action again. They were the first responce team. The A-Team, if you will. Maybe even a six part mini with X-Force (Cannonball, Sunspot, Shatterstar, Meltdown, Domino, Warpath, Siryn, and Cable). They would still be cool to read. As for the most powerful, I'd have to give that to the X-men Gold team. I mean, Storm, Jean Grey, Iceman, Bishop, Archangel, and Colossus. Come on, they'd be a b!tch to deal with now.
I thought Generation X was awesome right up until it got all weird with frogs and leprachauns on every page.
I really, really liked X-Statix a lot (as evidenced by my avatar). It had nothing to do with the main X-titles but I thought it was really smart and innovative. It gave an entirely new perspective to the mutant superteam concept and I really appreciated that. It really seemed like what a superhero group would be if they actually existed in the real world. I loved the old school looking art too.
My #1 will always be Excalibur circa issue #50 - Captain Britain, Meggan, Phoenix, Shadowcat, and Nightcrawler, with Kylun and Cerise. They are closely followed in my heart by Whedon's Astonishing (including Armor). After that my favorite lineups are X-Men Blue and present day X-Factor, although I think Longshot AND Shatterstar is a little too much Mojo for any one team.
I guess that means for me it's hard to separate the team from the writing. On paper I've had more favorite character collected in one place, but if the writing wasn't awesome they didn't become a favorite.
#1. Original Excalibur
#2. Aussie Outback X-Men
#3. Original X-Force
#4. Original X-Factor
#5. Original New Mutants
#6. Uncanny X-Men
Uncanny X-force
Original X-men- Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Angel, Iceman, added with Polaris and Havok
grant morrison X-men run
Generation X
Out back X-men
Astonishing X-men Whedon's run

My favorite team line ups....
1) X-treme X-Men
2) X.S.E. (Storm's former team)
3) Giant Size X-Men
This and everysingle team during Academy X.
Most powerful? yes and its not even close unless you put in a phoenix (debatable if hope goes phoenix or not)
Most warm and fuzzy? no
Most bad ass? possibly.... uncanny x-force is up there too
Most intimidating? yes (outside of dark phoenix)
Most interesting? remains to be seen ( definitely different and original )... off to a good start for me though...
Liked the old blue and gold teams and the outback team as well
