Last week we posted some information and a link to a website, the Tandem Initiative, which appeared to be seeking gifted individuals and asking for them to share pics of them using their abilities (which you still can as part of their "sweepstakes"). Monday we mentioned another website for a group calling themselves M-Underground. They appeared to have obtained footage from Tandem focusing on the possibility or cover up of actual events possibly linked to those with super-powers. Yesterday M-Underground posted some "decrypted files" indicating Ted Kennedy could have been a mutant.

These posts have excited many and upset some. Doing some digging, it was easy to find out about the sweepstake and notice Fox's copyright and attachment to it. When word got out, many websites started speculating this was all a viral marketing plan for 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse.

That's not the case. This marketing is NOT for X-Men: Apocalypse.

    What is it for?

    No Caption Provided

It's for the home release of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Because of our involvement in sharing the sites with you, we've been ask by the marketing team and Fox if we could help clarify this for everyone speculating it's for the next X-Men movie.

Now that the mutated cat is out of the bag, there is still plenty of cool things coming along in the viral sites. We can just pretend a little longer that maybe there is something more to this in the real world.

I still find that BoxArt strange as they are implying by Wol being in the middle that he is Past/Future and that Young X, Mag, Mys, and Beast are Past, and then on the other side we have Old X and Mag and Quick.....wait, Quicksilver is from the past. . . see where I'm going with this?

Well this is disappointing, seems a bit pointless to do something like this only for the DVD release of a movie everyone already knew about and have most likely seen. Kind of a waste if you ask me as I was actually interested in what they were doing, trying to tie in real events and claim they had ties to Mutants. This would have been a great way to announce a new movie or other X-Men related project. :(

@g_man: True, but if all of this marketing is really just for the release of X-Men: DoFP on DVD, then Fox really missed a chance to do something cool while also getting fans excited for a new X-Men project. Most fans have already seen DoFP and will most likely be getting it when it comes out on DVD anyways. It's also been announced that an director's cut will be released which has gotten fans, including myself, even more excited than they already were.

I just don't really see the point in all of this marketing and honestly I feel like it's just a waste of time now.

@war_killer: Or maybe if this is really successful, Fox will get them to do something even bigger for Apocalypse. The way I see it, people were having fun with this. That was before they even caught on it was a marketing thing. It might not be real but it provided some entertainment and discussion. That doesn't seem like a bad thing or waste of time. But that's just my opinion.

And I'm saying it absolutely is, 100%, for DOFP. It is NOT for Apocalypse. Obviously, we've been working with them in these posts.

Thought it was ok, felt like all of the energy from First Class was lost, but I'm really interested to see an extended cut.

I actually had a feeling it was about this. And as much as I loved DoFP, I won't be getting this - I'm holding out for the extended version.

(Also, it's kind of neat that Fox had you help promote it)

Fox announced that a director's cut would be released, which will most likely have Rogue's scenes that were deleted from the final movie.

I doubt the DVD release will have the extended cut, since all the good features are going onto the blu ray versions.

Still I can wait a year and watch the extended cut in the Cinema

Well I'll give you guys credit for stumping everyone about what the true intent of the Mutant related articles was. It got everyone thinking that you were advertising for Age of Apocalypse. Whilst I won't lie that advertising for AoA would have been better, there seems to be an unjust amount of negativity to this news, even if it was a letdown.

I have to say. Despite my first statement, I bought the DOFP movie and it came with a little comic book of DOFP. Is the only reason why I bought it cause I thought it was cool to have :)
