Something happened in the arc before this one. The Hellfire Club and Emma's sister did something to him.

I don't think he's really dead though...someone said he would play a big part in the next storyline. Could be posthumously I suppose.

he isnt dead. he may die, but he has to be in messiah complex. maybe phoenix grey will come back and save him or something. but i really think he will be alive. it wouldnt make sense if he is a CRUCIAL role in the messiah complex, if he were dead. unless that is what they are planning...

If he was really dead, they would make a huge deal about it.

The thing about cyclops is, he's the hero that everyone stopped caring about a while ago. And I was just starting to get into him again.

He's not dead. Neither is Captain America, Sabretooth or Cable. Too big characters to get rid of.

Yeah I don't think he's dead either and honestly if they were to kill him off I don't think they would do it in Astonishing X-Men anyway. That book is way irrelevant as far as whats happening in the main book goes. C'mon everything that happened in that book should have happened a long time ago on the moving timeline of events. Besides, its like Mark Twain said, why kill off an unpopular character?

I'm more of a cyclops fan than I ever was before but c'mon. The guy isn't anyones favorite.

    dying

I don't know but I'd like to know where these characters go when they "die" or should I say their little vacations. I bet money that Jean Grey is sunbathing in Waikiki right now. Her vacation is almost over I think.

I don't think so. Cause in the regular X-Book there fighting the Marauders and both Emma and Scott are there. And in Astonishing there out in space.

Yeah, Astonishing is way out of continuity since Joss can't keep up, that's why there is not going to be any Messaih Complex in Astonishing. Cyke isn't dead, Joss wouldn't be allowed to kill him, he's Emma's boy toy. It would be nice for them to catch up and get with it so things aren't so odd with what happens in Astonishing and what is happening in other books. That whole thing with Cyke could just be a diversion too. Gotta love how he gave Emma control over the team too, laughed at that.

Yes. Astonishing is not in the same time frame as the others. The actual team is on Earth preparing for Messiah Complex, though I have heard that once Whedons run ends, Ellis and Bianchi are going to try to get Astonishing back into continuty.

and as for Astonishing, I really don't think Cyclops is dead, though it would be funny in a way. First they kill his wife, twice and then they kill him. Don't see it happening since Cyke and Emma have become one of Marvel's most popular couples.

and I love him giving Emma command of the team. In Wolverine's words, "Things are gonna definitely get interesting."

My words, "This is messed up. I love it, but making a former villain the leader of an X-Team is making me laugh, but I love this
