Fox clearly has big plans for the massive roster of X-Men. Not only are they diving intoDays of Future past next year, but we also know they're working on an X-Force movie, too. Even though they're still building the hype for X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer took to twitter and said something that makes the future very exciting. Apparently Iceman actor Shawn Ashmore heard the news like the rest of us, too.

According to Collider, the movie is scheduled to open May 27, 2016. Could it be inspired by Age of Apocalypse or will it have stronger connections to another story revolving around the first mutant? Have some fun speculating below, Viners!

I wonder if they are Days of the Future past is going to soft reboot the franchise. I would love to see Cyclops back and actually be important in the movies. This could be the result.

This. As much as I like the previous Singer X-Men films he really underutilized certain characters. Cyclops was probably the biggest offense in that regard. I wonder if the X-Force movie they are doing will lead into a big crossover type thing for Apocalypse.

The Marvel Community team is always talking about X-Cutioner's Song, but I enjoyed the X-Factor stories with Ship, baby Nate, and the transmode virus even more. I'd love to see more of a film channeling Fall of the Mutants/X-Factor Endgame (Vol.1:65-68). I doubt that'll happen since those are such Summers-centric stories.

They'll probably just find some way of making it revolve around Wolverine again.

I'm probably in the minority, but I don't think Age of Apocalypse sounds very appealing for film. I'd rather they give Apocalypse his classic treatment as an omnipotent mutant Darwinist.

Still, I've been pining for Apocalypse in an X-Men movie. He's one of my favorite X villains and I love the stories built around him (X-Cutioner's Song, Uncanny X-Force, Uncanny Avengers). I also think that his character offers a fresh perspective as far the mutants-humans relationship goes (the Xavier-Magneto dynamic has grown stale now, and theirs are not the only paths/causes).

Hopefully this paves the way for Mr. Sinister, Cable, and ARCHANGEL to show up on-screen, as well.

Probably another Wolverine movie.

Two thoughts: Days of Future Past has to really nail it in order to set a good stage for Apocalypse. Bryan Singer being at the helm is a good start.

This sounds great! i thought apocolypse would be in x-force, but this works. Just shift the focus back to the team instead of the mentors. We wanna see Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Wolverine as a unit. I just miss that from the comics.

Fox must have a lot of faith in DOFP to announce a sequel already. Looking forward to all of Fox's projects--especially Fantastic Four. I hope they cameo in DOFP after the credits.

And yep, probably as Jackman is starting to age, to still put him as Wolverine they will probably go with the Wolverine version of Apocalypse so this is still all about Wolverine and a lot of stars demanding screen time for zero character development due to not enough time for everyone like happened in Days of Future Past (yep, I've come from the future, that's what happened in DoFP, like with X3 but worse).

I've hear that in 2020 no matter how many films FOX makes, their rights no longer extend and they return to Marvel... is that real??? By then probably the avengers cycle will expire and Marvel could focus on some awesome x-men stuff is that's tru... only 7 more years... only 7 more years...

What Marvel has made work in movies is the realism, and now we're looking at more and more farfetched worlds, plots and characters

Marvel will never have the rights to X-Men back, they don't even want them, so you may as well stop crying and move on.

What would really make my day would be them rebooting the X-Men altogether. It is one of Marvel's best properties, and one of the best team books ever, it deserves better, especially than just being a glorified Wolverine vehicle.
