The pencils/artwork is good. There is consistency in how the faces of the characters were drawn. The only downside of it is, there were parts where the artist didn't give much effort or detail in doing the faces of the characters, especially when the scene is in a wide angle and the faces would be in a smaller scale. Kudos on the surprised facial expressions!

Not bad. Nothing new. Very ordinary.

I loved its play of words, especially in the 1st part. I think it is intelligently written. I'm not sure though if the writer will be able to give justice to the previous x-men 1 or be religious in keeping each character's personality intact. From the way I see it, characters will be starting on a clean slate when it comes to their interaction with each other, how they deal with a situation and even their way of speaking.

I also love that the story seem to be on a fast pace. Action starts on the next issue. Definitely a cliff-hanger.

okay, I thought that's what you might have meant.

Still, I would've given it 4/5 (at least), myself, but art's pretty subjective; and Coipel's a favorite for me.

Otherwise I pretty much agree with you're assessment. Given that at least some of the appeal for a reader like me is the nostalgia of seeing these classic stars of 80's and 90's X-men back together again, I wouldn't be surprised if some of their later character development as individuals was conveniently forgotten in favor of reestablishing the more classic dynamics between these characters.

And since (other than Psylocke) most of these characters haven't been very consistently written for a while, I doubt I'll mind. I'm really just glad to see them all together again, especially under Wood's pen.

They're a family again.
