What's with Shadowcat's ever-changing face?!?
Am I the only person that gets annoyed with it? It stops me from giving her a basic image when I think of her.
Team » X-Men appears in 13416 issues.
...examples?
Keep in mind that there have been probably a hundred different artists that have drawn her. Since she doesn't have any particularly distinguishing facial features there's nothing really to give her a Kitty Pride "look" on her face, is there?

She doesn't change anymore then anyone else from artist to artist in my opinion.
what he said
Yeah! I've noticed that Kitty's facial expressions always changes! Like when she was first introduced, she had a long face and now her face is short.
@Mystrogue: I think that, due to the original intent of her as a point of view character, as well as her lack of distinct distinguishing physical characteristics, most people, and artists too, tend to think of someone they actually know when they think of Kitty, thus she looks more more different from one interpretation to the next.
oh and of those 25 examples you gave. @Mystrogue said:
I only count 15 different artists, and only 9 or 10 that actually drew her in the comics.
@judasnixon: which you actually get a sort of sense of in Days of Future Past, when you see her as an adult.
I have noticed this as well. It does getting kind of annoying. In the next 8 months, I say they will go for straight sex appeal. Cleavage and so on. I hope it doesn't happen but I think that is what they are trying to go for.
@Fallen_Crippled: oh, man, I hope not. Last thing I wanna see is some cheesecake, fan art style Kitty running around in the comics.

I agree 100%! It's one of the reasons I can't completely relate to her character. Before Joss Whedon came along I used to view shadowcat as just another generic white woman with powers-- Like Husk, Trance, etc...

Stupid Random Fact: John Byrne Designed Kitty Pryde to look like a young Singourney Weaver.....
Thank God-- That design didn't stay her standard. Because this is NOT how I precieve Kitty.
@Mystrogue: The only thing really different in those other then art style is she looks young in some of the pics, and in terms of art they showed Kitty growing and chaining from a girl to a woman better then any other Marvel young person I can think of. It's impressive.
Also...you do know that a change of mask =/= change in face right?
@Mystrogue: Have you not read a lot of comics? Because based off of your examples I'm not thinking you have. Bruce Banner, Carol Danvers, Peter Parker, Deadpool, Thor, and many other characters who are even the main character of their books go through a TON of farcical diversity going from artist to artist. She looks like her self as much as any comic character does.
And seriously a lot of your examples look so much like the same person you might just be having trouble with the way a person's looks change with different hair and the perspective of the way a person is facing.
Wolverine has actually gone through multiple facial redesigns over the years. It's just that Wolverine's hair and over all look as a very define look while Kitty has a very generic and normal look so it's easier to get a grasp of Wolverine's look.
