Joss Whedon's Astonishing X Men worth it?

They're good. If you liked the writing on the other two, then you'll like the others.

I bought the first 3 in the series. I was slightly bored by them.

As DarkxSeraph said, if you liked the motion comics, they pretty much come directly from the pages of the books.

I would definitely buy this series on trade paperback! The stories were fantastic and it's great seeing them on motion comics!

@tahmidk: I think the whole series is good, but if there is one I would recommend least (of the four trades), it would be the second one (Dangerous), so if you feel like you already know the first one well enough, I'd just skip to the last two (Torn and Unstoppable).

They're the best X-Men stories in the last twenty years (in my opinion). Granted I'm an old guy, but this kind of thing is what the X-Men used to be about. A small group of super human oddities who fought bad guys to protect a world that hated and feared them. Not big world changing political stuff with a gajillion characters and toooo many sub-plots to possibly keep up with. Plus, they might not have been the Avengers but they were BAD asses. Whedon and Casseday's Astonishing X-Men should be essential reading for X-Men fans. Not that I'm a 43 year old geek who's all into comics or anything ;) ahem....

You should buy it, It's very over-rated, but still a good series.
