I'm not sure if any of you picked up the latest is Wolverine, but there was a retcon so massive...so retarded in it's nature that it must be shared.

That's right. Weapon X was all Logan's idea. Logan was never a test subject nor tortured and turned into the character we see today. It turns out, after all this time, he's the reason behind it's very existence. It now makes me hate Wolverine more than before...and it pretty much solidifies that I'll never buy another Jeph Loeb written book ever again. Stupid werewolf mutant crap. Ugh.

Just remember, for every piece of $hit story there is an editor and a publisher who gave the idea the OK.

No way, man this paves the way for lots more awesome stories. Cyclops actually caused and planned the plane crash that orphaned him and his brother. Hulk actually beat up Rick Jones and dumped his body in the area of the Gamma Bomb so it would excuse him running out there to be "accidentally" exposed to gamma radiation. Superman actually was the one who blew up Krypton. Batman shot his own parents cause they didn't buy him popcorn with butter and his brain psychologically compensated by creating a criminal that did it. Spider-man actually bite a Radioactive Spider and then killed Uncle Ben cause he was high as Aunt May's Sunday pie. Silver Surfer actually called Galactus to come to his planet cause he was bored and wanted to surf in space.

You be trollin'

Every writer has both good and bad stories. Some writers stay consistent longer, some improve over time, and others may decline over time.

This ain't nothing new.

Of course, we have the argument that Loeb was the writer behind:

Then again, the exact same can be said about Frank Miller - praised and condemned for his works...this is not the first time a writer has done this, and it certainly won't be the last.

Have'nt read his Superman story, but his Batman stories suffer from the same flaws.Difference being he was skilled enough to hide them.

Maybe we should be praising Loeb. By totally destroying the character to the point of no return, maybe they'll have to stop him being in every book?

#14 Posted by Deranged Midget (17599 posts) - - Show Bio

I honestly doubt that's true. Romulus is a manipulator, he's just trying to dig into Logan's head and play with his emotions. I want to see where the next few issues go before jumping the gun.

Its likely they are messing with Logan....throughout the long history of the X-Men there has always been things said that e=never panned out or were taken into a different context later on.

Wolverine was the driver of the truck that spilled radioactive substances on Daredevil. The gangsters who killed Punisher's family in Central Park were only there because they were running from Wolverine. Black Bolt keeps his mouth shut at all times because Wolverine growled at him once when he was trying to say something. The Illuminati got cold feet while trying to decide whether to banish Hulk into space or not, so to make the decision they called the only man with balls in the Marvel universe: Wolverine.

Wolverine also was the cause of Thor's banishment from Asgard, having forced extensive amounts of alcoholic beverages upon Odin and convincing him Thor was immature and useless. Wolverine also slept with Emma on multiple occasions and forced her to plant false images of mutant endangerment in Scott's mind at all times. Wolverine was also Aunt May's shooter and forced Peter into a psychotic rage in which he almost killed Kingpin and forced him to erase his marriage with Mary Jane so Logan could have a chance with her.

Romulus has always been a manipulator ever since he was revealed, so I don't see why anything would change at this point. He's inferior to Logan and wants to be him and the only way he gains an advantage is by playing with his mind. Hence what he did with Daken.

I can't really say whether or not this proves if Loeb is the worst writer I've ever read. Wolverine's back story has been a mess for at least 30 years at this point, and while some writers wanted the character to progress others wanted to retcon some of the revelations for more pseudo-mystery.

My favorite Wolverine will always be the simple guy that liked drinking, getting into bar fights and lived to fight. I actually think the characters descent into mediocrity started with Claremont's (through no fault of his own) exploration of his samurai days, which was the start of mining Logan's past for new stories.

I enjoyed Hush and The Long Halloween. I believe Loeb also worked on a good Superman run right after Hush which I enjoyed.

I'm not much of an X-Men fan, but Wolverine's back story is already laughably contorted. I can't see how Loeb can do too much damage to something already so...distorted.

I was always under the impression that Weapon X had goals that were good on the surface, but the leaders of the organization corrupted it and used it for evil. I have no problem with Wolverine having a role in setting up the program as long as he was not being evil.

come on guys, didn't you learn anything from inception DIG DEEPER!

"Martin Goodman's real birth name is James "Logan" Howlett who later unisexually gave birth to Stan "Dakken" Goodman, due to Mr.Mxyzptlk crossing over to our world and reality warping him. Mxy disguised himself as a producer who donated the money to them anonymously under the name Dalt Wisney to help them out under 2 conditions:

1- that they rename it to Marvel inc.

2- that they give up their middle names

then he unmasked himself and appeared to have wolverine's face and he said "I'll be Back" put on hipster glasses. eventually, Stan had a secret gay marriage with Bruce Lee, and hence got the last name from him "Stan Lee". now people think bruce died afterwards but him and Mxy were actually kidnapped into a secret la and were fused into one being that jumped inside Stan's mind and became an idea. now the mad scientist that fused them took over Walt Disney, and lived immortal untill today when he decided to buy Marvel today. However, before all that, the scientist had his half-son working an inside job in Marvel under the name Jeph Loeb (who's birth-name is Wolverine). "

this was the unpublished plot written by Stan Lee as a child, by copying voices that came from the future from the Mad scientist that created himself who was at the same time living in stan's head, controlling Jeph Loeb, and running Disney today under the name Robert Iger who is originally a descendant of Martin Goodman aka James "Logan" Howlett aka. WOELVERINE!!!who was the Mad scientist all along!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't really know. Like I said, I'm not a big X-Men fan. Not really huge into Marvel in general.

(searching on comicvine)

Ah, yeah, you are more or less right. Basically, the goal of Weapon X is to create and train weapons for the Canadian government. That is not necessarily a bad thing. That is pretty much where Captain America came from.

Also, I love how Sabretooth said he was training and learning while he was away, but then he was completely wrecked and treated like a pushover yet again.

It's part of the same series as Spider-Man: Blue and Hulk: Gray but many of the things that happen in DD: Yellow actually happened early on in Matt's time as DD. Loeb just tells it a little differently.
