After the Story Schism, The X-Men are going be divided in to 2 books and one of them is Wolverine and X-Men, that title is going have Chris Bachalo as the artist. First we have Terry Dodson in Uncanny X-Men and now Bachalo. What's wrong with Marvel, do they like disappoint fans or something. I hate Chris Bachalo as artist, he makes characters and fights look terrible. Typical Marvel, they like to lets us down. How can anyone look forward to this again? Can't they get a good artist, for once?
X-Men
Team » X-Men appears in 13419 issues.
The X-Men are a superhero team of mutants founded by Professor Charles Xavier. They are dedicated to helping fellow mutants and sworn to protect a world that fears and hates them.
Is this worst idea or what?
This is pretty bad. I liked Chris Bachalo back in the early run of Generation X but he got very sloppy, and started to make everyone look like fat dwarves. I tend to like more realistic artwork, though, so it's one of my biases. I get that it's stylized, but it gets so cluttered and out of proportion that I have no idea what is happening in some panels.
Yeah Im not to thrilled over their artistic decisions either. I mean especially when u have a stable of guys like Lenil Yu, Adam Kubert, Pacheo, Larroca, Alan Davis, Oliver Coipel. There is a lot of better choices. The Dodsons dont bug me but Bachalo-ugh!!!
@PhoenixoftheTides-made everyone look like fat dwarves. LOL that is friggin EPIC!!!!!
I love Chris Bachalo, and i buying Wolverine and the X-men just because of him. Uncanny X-MEN with Carlos Pacheo....I'll pass, his art is starting to look like Alan Davis, and i think it looks boring...
It's a style difference. Pacheco and Bachalo are two VERY different artists, and I happen to like them both.
I really like bachalo's style and clever use of page layout, though I do agree that now and then this means following what's happening can be a challenge. However, his choice of colors can be odd. The Storm and Gambit one-shot he did for curse of the vampires had great art but absolutely horrible coloring! Really bland and murky. Kind spoiled things a bit. However, the recent Avengers fear itself work, colors were great and it made the artwork shine. That's my only problem with bachalo.
For the record, I really like the Dodsons work. Okay, so they're not Larroca or Yu levels of awesome, but they rock in a kinda Saturday monring cartoon kinda way. Waaaaaaaay, way, way better than Land!
And coipel is an amazing artist, but everyone he draws look like a twenty-something. Even Magneto!
I'm the opposite.
I've been SO bored with the X-Men's artists lately. The books come alive when hyperstylized artists like Bachalo, Coipel, 80's Silvestri, and Quitely draw them.
It took me a while to get used to Bachalo, but now I prefer him over some of the more realistic artists
I like Bachalo only if the stories being told have a "cute & funny" atmosphere. He fits well into Generation-X or New Mutants comics. I wouldn't want to see him do Onslaught or Operation Zero Tolerance... and definetly not Wolverine series.
The whole "Wolverine and the X-Men" idea couldn't keep a cartoon on the air for more than one season, even at the height of Jackmanmania; I'm not sure what makes them think it's going to work any better this time around. Don't get me wrong; Wolverine's one of my all-time favorite characters, and he works in a variety of roles. Feral berserker? Check. Brooding loner? Heck yeah. Loose cannon spec op? Absolutely. Tactical commander? Sure. Ideological leader? Eh, not so much.
Personally I like Terry Dodson's art, but I understand why some may hate it. I'd really like to see some artist like Choi and Dodson work on some other Marvel titles like Avengers. Give the X-Men a chance to let some new artists work on the X-Titles while letting the artists from the X-Books work on other none X-related titles for a change.
Oh, and in answer to your thread title, "NO! It's not because I've read some of your wishes for the future of the X-Men! ZING!".

@time: You hate Chris Bachalo??... Now I officially hate you
Way to take things seriously, I don't even know you...I was joking.
whatYour Jean ideas. Your Storm ideas. I was probably joking about the Colossus and Kitty one.

Come to think about it, a lot of people want Storm to be more involved in X-Men and some want Jean to return. The kitty and colossu being being dead is your idea
I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE Chris Bachalo. He's the real deal. Yes his stuff is a little stylized, but it's on the good side of the spectrum. Unlike Huberto Ramos, who is on the absolute horrible side of things.that right there. except ramos is getting better and better in ASM. i didnt like his stuff until he stared drawing that
Bachalo is fantastic, though I'll admit I miss the way he drew faces in his early days. His whole manner of composing is consistently on another plane, but he hung around with Joe Madureira (and worse yet, Ramos) and started drawing people with mask-like shields instead of faces. The final pages of Generation Next #4, as Paige realizes she is being abandoned is some of the best comic art I've ever seen. You get one last shot of her on the next page, though I unfortunately couldn't find an image of it.
I signed up just to agree. Chris Bachalo's work is good for what it is, but in comics it's just not up to doing the job at hand. Maybe in Power Pack it'd work... just.
When tasked with the high tension often Science-Fiction based drama that is the X-Men it's just horrible, and makes the stories a chore to read through instead of an engaging, enjoyable experience.
