Wasn't it revealed several years ago that Emma Frost was actually ugly and that she used her powers to make people believe she was hot so that she could rise to the top of the Hellfire Club? If so, wouldn't people with psychic protections in place be able to see her as she really is, and wouldn't she appear less attractive in diamond form? Or am I thinking of someone else? I suppose after she got rich, she could have had plastic surgery, but I think there were psychic barriers in the Hellfire Club itself, so I don't know how to explain that.

Emma wasn't ugly, she just bloomed late, so to speak. She dyes her hair and has had a nose job as well as breast implants, but other than that, what you see is what you get.

@ExtraLarge: She used her powers to make it seemed like she stripped good. She basically used to telepathy to mesmerize the Hellfire club members.

I'm pretty sure that OP is talking about the X-Men Origins: Emma Frost issue, which IIRC, somewhat heavily contradicts her origin established in her ongoing.

In the Murder at the Mansion story arc it briefly touched upon her background! It was the same issue where Jean walks in on Scott and Emma having a "mind session" and she locks Scott out of the room and explores Emma's history a bit!
