Hello, someone I know was selling the House of M 1-8 for $8. If I'm not getting ripped off, I would like to buy them. Though when would I start to read those issues if I am going through X-Men volume 2. Does it take place after New X-Men? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it takes place after New X-Men, but it's more of an Avengers-related story in my opinion. You should be fine to read 1-8 without any confusion.

And $8 is a pretty great deal if you ask me.

I'm no expert, but that seems like a good deal since you can read it "stand-alone".

I just read House of M: Spider-Man, because it is just about Spider-Man and not X-Men.

@emperium: It does indeed take place after New X-Men, but like @Gambit1024 said, it's probably more closely linked to the Avengers than any X-Book. Reading "Avengers Disassembled" before reading House of M is helpful, but not really necessary.

Exactly. The only thing that the X-Men were effected by in this specific event was the ending.

Btw, I think there's even an overview of what happened in Disassembled in the beginning of the first issue.

Awesome, it would be great if it's possible to get an answer to this too: Since it takes place after New X-Men, what major X-Men story arc takes place after House of M? That way I don't overshoot House of M's ending affected regular issues on my X-Men vol2 run.
