@Rickbarry: How was it a cultural disaster?
It was a half hearted lazy attempt to bring to characters together. There wasn't the slightest bit of chemistry.
It's worked in 1610 and Wolverine and The X-Men.
Fundamentally, I liked the idea of the relationship, truth be told.

it's not the best X-title but man I really enjoy reading it and it's made me really like Dazzler

It's better than Astonishing X-Men, that's for sure. It's a shame. I would have liked it to have lasted for at least another year. Plus it has to tie into that stupid AoA rehash as it ends.

and Astonishing X-men which I have to say has been one of the most boring books ever outside of Wood's adjectiveless run

Astonishing X-Men should have just died when Whedon left. I mean, I can't think of another arc that I've really enjoyed that much. Greg Pak's arc was decent but no way near as good.
Now with Liu writing it's just awful.
The only X-Titles I'm excited to read at the moment are Uncanny X-Force Vol. 2, All-New X-Men and, next month, Uncanny. I also like X-Factor.
Cable and X-Force is boring as hell and WaTXM's just stupid. No interest in X-Men.

Welcome to my world
Uncanny X-Men was okay. Not amazing and definitely not worth the price tag on the front. Blergh.
X-Treme X-Men was good.
CaXF and WaTXM are just dire.
@Rickbarry said:
I thought Uncanny was god awful.
Why? It felt kind of an empty read. Classic Bendis decompression.
@chasereis said:
@John Valentine: No book marvel publishes is worth $3.99, brudda. Unless Alan Moore and Frank Miller write it and Jim Lee and Joe Mad draw it, yet I buy them anyway like damned fool.
Some are nearer that level of worth than others.
The X-books have always varied in quality depending on the era, but has it ever been this bad overall? Even the bright light of the bunch (X-Factor) has begun to lose its way and luster

I thought pre-AvX and post-Schism was a pretty good time. Also, Uncanny X-Force Vol. 1. Certainly better than post-MC to SC.
X-Factor hasn't been as good as it was since Messiah Complex, really. I still like it.
@chasereis said:
@John Valentine: True, but the digital price the same as the print copy really burns me up though. Who do they think they are fooling?
I don't mind if I get a digital download and a comic for $3.99 - that kind of seems like a vaguely fair trade-off. Makes it slightly better and could sway me into buying the issue if it's a series I like. But a digital comic for nearly the same price as print is taking the piss.
@John Valentine: I guess. I view it as get the digital download for (1.99) or something and save space, but I can be a bit of a stickler on that so dont mind me.
EDIT:

Wish I would have saw this earlier. You sir are a poet, a scholar and fine judge of scotch. I used to be such a marvel zombie too, but let's ask...
ME - "DC Comics...what is best in life?"
DC COMICS- "Crush your Enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentation of the women in the refrigerator."
@John Valentine: I felt like the Magneto twist was expected and already I can pretty much tell that it's one of those 'Scotty' type of plans. Pretty lame.
I dunno. Maybe I liked Cable & X-force because they actually spit it all out this time around and it didn't stink? -Shrugs- Plus there was another boom boom reference and I like boom boom.

Oh, poor Kyle. *sigh*
I remember when he got his ring in an alleyway. Heh. Nostalgia.

@Gambler: I believe X-Men should be completely retconned, with all current Marvel continuity(as well as Ultimate X-Men) eliminated, and have one X-Men title simply called "The X-Men," not "Uncanny X-Men."
Do you agree or disagree with this statement and why?
There is no retcon big enough to fix all the problems and BS from the past decade. Just revamp the line into a new direction and reference the 2000's as little as possible.
@Decoy Elite: Not really. Last time they showed up was X-Men Legacy: Five Miles South of the Universe
@Ren_: Bring them back as a new adventure series and bring back Exiles because Exiles is an awesome concept I need to read more of.
@Decoy Elite:
When Marvel was really pushing good work out of the cosmic line I could see a Starjammers revival that might have legs, now that they have let that entire line fall apart again that would be a very hard sell.

I agree and since it is ending it gives Dazzler a chance to hop into another book. I like her as a character and want to see her get utilized more.

Surely you don't mean such a thing? There has been a lot of great stuff in 2000s, much better than 1990s and a lot of 1980s, IMO.

She's snagged for Bendis in ANXM/UXM. The joy.

Afraid so, yes certain characters have seen great moments and fanfare, but the majority of the X-verse is a disaster and 10 characters have been maligned for every one improved. While the 2000's have surely not been stale, the constant change and sometimes moronic plots and characterization are not as fond a memory for me as it seems for you.
The X-line needs a revamp, not a return to the past (whatever decade), which is not driven by only a handful of characters and have as little Bendis and Fraction as possible.

I'm going to disagree.
On the whole, I've liked the 2000s (Morrison's New X-Men, Astonishing, Academy X, Carey's Pre-MC X-Men, PAD's X-Factor, Uncanny X-Force and Gillen's Uncanny, specifically).
Hell, I even like where Marvel's been taking Cyclops since Decimation, even if I'm not 100% happy with the execution.
I do, agree, however, that a revamp of the X-line would be beneficial. Marvel NOW! isn't fundamental enough.

I'm so behind on the X-Men these days I really couldn't give you an intelligent answer.
