First 'Days Of Future Past' Image Revealed

Twitter is a pretty powerful social media networking tool. It is particularly powerful if you are working on a major motion picture and have everyone hanging on your every word. This is exactly the case with X-Men director Bryan Singer who recently tweeted one of the very first pictures from the set of the upcoming film, X-Men: Days Of Future Past. The image was accompanied by the very simple sentence "Hello old friends #XMen #DaysofFuturePast," indicating that the director would use the same wheelchairs we saw in previous films. The props are wheelchairs used by Professor Charles Xavier's character in previous X-Men franchise films and will be used once again in the upcoming movie.

Based on previous casting reports, actor Patrick Stewart who played Charles Xavier in the first X-Men film will be returning to reprise the role. In addition, so will actor James McAvoy who will play the younger version of the same character. That might explain why we are seeing two wheelchairs instead of just one: one used by McAvoy for scenes set in the past, and the other to be used by Patrick Stewart for scenes set in the present day. One thing is certain, it will be interesting to see how Singer works both of these characters into one story in an interesting and compelling way.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past is set to hit theaters on July 18th, 2014. Are you looking forward to the film?

@Babs: Interesting. So the entire feature is likely jump back and forth at different points in time. I don't think someone would leak the photo if it were a cameo appearance alone, do you think?

1 on the left is the past because it's bulkier & heavier the 1 on the right is from the future it's more lightweight & aerodynamic.

I take that back the one on the left could be the future 1 because it's motorized (look at the right armrest) & remember he used a motorized wheelchair in the future issues a lot plus in the earlier issues it was a regular wheelchair. My thing is why not give the right chair a motor? Lol if it is indeed the future chair then it should be motorized & more lightweight.

I am looking forward to this film so, so much. I love that they're using actors from the two eras of X-Men films. I love that Bryan Singer is back. And Days of Futures Past is such a good story. I can't wait.

Two generations of wheelchairs. Nice

@Namor1987: Obviously, we'll see when either more details are released or the movie comes out...but...I respectfully disagree with you.

The chair on the left is motorized, while the chair on the right is not. To me, this suggests that the left chair is the more modern of the two.

Nice

Now that is cool...two different Xavier wheelchairs. Me like.

I don't think this is from the set. If you look to the far right there is some sort of concept work. I think someone just took a picture of the props.

I'm basing this on my old X-Men movie action figures and as far as I can tell MadMonkey is right. The left chair is Patrick Stewart's while the right is McCavoy's.

I want to see the yellow chair, the one we see on tv cartoons and in comic books.

Wow wow wow, James McAvoy would be the present and Patrick Stewart would be the future character surely. If this is a follow on from First Class, the 60s was present day. Not 2000s!!!!!!!!!!

Hrm, I got faith Singer can get it done.

Oh so he does get a motorized 1 in the future? My bad I was like "downgrade much". Time travel makes my brain hurt.

Each time I see Professor X in a wheelchair that stupid Camillionare rap song "Ridin' Dirty" pops in my mind.....

They keep on trying to catch me ridin' dirty dirty!

Oh, in this thread we share pictures of chairs:

Oh, wait. Oops. ;)

Anyway, I'm partial to the floating one that he used to have just because it looked so comfortable.

I am skeptic & excited for this movie for many reasons. X-men first class was one of marvels most successful x movies to date, however; considering that X-men last stand was completely out of control with continuity & direction, I'm a bit worried that this will occur in this next X movie installment. I want 'Days' to be great but if there gonna do it just for mass audience appeal they shouldn't bother at all. One of the things I liked about first class was that it kind of flew under the radar, meaning that it received no over hype. The dark appeal & more adult themed setting should be the base for this next movie. I'm sure everyone would agree with me that 'Days of Future Past' was a darker more gritty story & for the studio to do some fluffed up version of that would be not only a waste of money but a a huge disappointment to all X-Men fans. I can only cross my fingers at this point & hope they don't F**k this up!

those look really uncomfortable for sitting in all day

#23 Posted by bunkerbuster05 (305 posts) - - Show Bio

This could be legendary, man. We have the best of both worlds with this one, having Singer back with the old cast and the First Class team. Plus a great story to go with it? Consider me excited.

I bet one chair is modern day Professor X and the other is future Magneto.

I just got the funniest image of past and future Xavier racing each other in their wheelchairs

#26 Posted by poisonfleur (2978 posts) - - Show Bio

Seriously-- There isn't one character in the movie that looks worth checking out...

That would be hilarious. I think we might see something like that in bloopers, or someone will make a joke of it.

@judasnixon: They see me rolling they hatiiiiing... oh God now I can't get the idea out of my mind :P

Stewart was probably the best cast actor in any comic movie ever. On the other hand I feel McAvoy does a better American accent than British.

#30 Edited by papad1992 (6822 posts) - - Show Bio

Hmmm... the one on the left looks waaaay more comfier than the one on the right!!

EDIT - Actually... they both look rather uncomfortable... nevermind! For a cripple you'd think there would be more padding!!

Wasn't Magneto in a wheelchair in the future of Days of Future Past? Will we see this come about?

#32 Posted by sketchman33 (7 posts) - - Show Bio

im so sick of x-men films and im pleading for a reboot. between hugh jackman as wolverine, the beasts non blue form in x1 yet blue form in first class, emma frosts age differences between first class and origins, and the whole scott/alex age and relation to one another fiasco, im at a loss as to why anyone would even consider these films worth watching. yes first class was good, but thats like sniffing the least stank piece of crap in the pile. im a comic book purist and im okay with some cinematic liberties, but for gods sake, get the character continuity and casting right. p.s. i forgot to mention the professors magic legs at the end of origins.

I might be excited for this if Singer wasn't involved. I'm all for referencing mutant issues to LGBT issues but the way he does it just feels forced and wrong.

Yep, he was.

Hrm...I got to thinking about it last night - I wouldn't be surprised to see Singer introduce Apocalypse in this film as a potential villain. I know he isn't near chronologically correct for when the book was printed - but thematically I can see it.

X-Men First Class is my favorite comicbook movie of 2011 and Days of Future Past is my favorite X-Men story arc. So yes I am interested in the sequel. It is without a doubt a movie I am going to see in Theaters. Lets hope it is good.

#37 Posted by TheCannon (17994 posts) - - Show Bio

Hopefully this is better than the God-Awful First Class film.

#38 Posted by Jmush (12 posts) - - Show Bio

I just. Can't anymore. X-Men movies are too much.

But I do love Hugh Jackman.

Right! Iceman and Rogue are probably the gayest straight couple I have ever seen in my entire life!
