..How did Wolverine die in the future in DOFP? I am intruiged as I wouldn't have thought being blasted by some laser gun type thing would work, as Wolverine has healed from a blast equivalent to an atomic blast in more recent years..

Actually, you almost answered your question yourself. Writers nowadays tend to overpower his healing abilities. Event with healing abilities you never should be able to survive something like what happened in DOFP.

Thanks, but I was wondering what happened in DOFP the book, not the film. I know that he died in the book and was wondering what killed him.
As for DOFP the film, yep he survived drowning which previously I had understood he couldn't do, so interesting...

They were talking about the comic....
Wolverine has instant healing these days. In the comics in the 80s, even until the 90s, Wolverine could be killed by conventional means, like gunfire or being stabbed. When it was stated that he would heal fast, it meant he would heal faster than a normal man. Not instantaneously. In the DoFP comic he is incinerated and back then, there would be no way he was able to heal from that. The whole "regenerating from even the slightest molecule" or whatever didn't exist yet.
@bezza: Well, I was talking about the comic, sorry if that wasn't clear to you. Its pretty much like @cattlebattle says, I just wanted to say it in a shorter way :p. And yeah, about the drowning in the movie, that's basically the only thing that can kill him in the comics nowadays (For example, Daken was drowned, so i suppose it should also work with Wolverine).
Thanks guys, appreciate it. When you say he got incinerated, what on earth did they hit him with? I thought adamantium could withstand even nuclear level explosions!!

I appreciate how Ororo died to a similar wound as the original comic book in the movie.
@bezza: I figure you might appreciate panels from the actual comic book.
