    I really stopped thinking of the X-men as heroic when they turned their back on Carol and welcomed Rogue into the team. Rogue who had tried to kill their friend Carol who tormented Angel and Dazzler, then Magneto who was given kids to teach... The revolving door between hero/villain in the mu is perfectly demonstrated with the X-men. Remember when Emma stole Storm's body? How about when we learned all of the stuff that Prof X did?

    You don't really have heroes in marvel, you just have characters who are just a plot point away from stabbing other characters in the back.

    They have been heroes and saved the world plenty of times. Just think if Magneto back in the day or Apocalypse had been let loose. What they've dealt with as far as the Phoenix. they've saved the world too many times to count.

    However at the moment, that concept is non-existent considering how everything is buried under infighting and arguing. Ever since House of m the focus has had to be more on keeping a species/race/ group of humans or whatever you want to call mutants from going extinct or being completely wiped out

    They have portrayed heroism but they mostly care about their own existence, just not selfishly.

    Freaking people bringing up AvX to paint the X-Men villains. They gave the world peace, free energy, and free food and water under with only 1 rule. No war. The Avengers were the real villains in AvX. They were the ones that forced the Phoenix to be split. They were the ones that could not accept a world of peace if the conditions were not their own.

    Ultimately the heroes are the ones who the marvel writers decide are the heroes and right now Avengers rule marvel.

    I thought they were anti-heroes lol.

    Of course they're heroes.

    It's true that some did acted like villains. Take X-Force as an example.

    @drizzle1030:

    I agree that the Avengers should definitely do more for mutant rights (which technically theyre doing now) but I don't think we can fault them for getting involved in the Phoenix situation. Theyre the planets appointed defenders and the Phoenix had the power to wipe out the entire planet. The groups definitely should have been working together.

    Protecting a world that hates and fears you that qualifies as a hero

    their not obligated to protect the world from dangerous mutants the good and mutant telepaths culd get together and shut down thousands of people's minds Xavier can shut down 1 million minds

    And mutants outnumber super humans as bad as humans outnumber mutants

    DC is not like marvel marvel does not have Green Lantern's that go to police planets ,solar systems and straighten things out

    I honestly don't know Wolverine or rede richards or hulk they are heroes and sometimes not

    @drizzle1030: saving and defending the mutant race is the primary goal but they save the lives of anyone who needs it on a regular basis. fall of the mutants, rise and fall of the shi'ar, heroic age, secret wars, secret invasion, off the top of my head are moments when the X-men went out of their way and nearly died for non mutants. as for recruiting those with questionable history...i dont know many superhero teams that havent really so what makes them so different from anyone else?
