Why so many blue muties? Just a popular color for artists, or there a reason behind it? lol (Yes, I realize most of these people are related.)

Blue Skin X-Gene Trait?
@Gambit1024:
Are you sure about Kurt's family? Mystique has blue skin. Plus, I'm pretty sure his wife in the last pic didn't have fur.
P.S. What exactly turned Beast's fur blue if it wasn't due to mutation? Just a random chemical reaction due to an experiment?
Another question: Is Apocalypse's skin grey or blue or in between?
It was my understanding that Kurt's fur is Blue and his skin is white, but I could be wrong.
Originally Beast's fur was grey, but then changed blue for some reason.
Apocalypse's skin is grey, but you could argue that it's blue on the count of his "costume" is actually a part of him.
Maybe its just me. I know they had a lot of trouble perfecting a process for gray, even after the 60s. It does look like she bears a little more green compared to Kurt's more obvious blue.
The heavy of us Blue used to be only as a highlight for black items. that's why Colossus used to have blue hair, since it was a way of showing detail & highlight in his black hair.
Anyway, blue isn't exclusively for the muties. Namorita had 2 separate stints as a blue-skinned babe. Most Atlanteans are blue, which is why Namor was so different because he was pink.
I think blue's just more dynamic. beast started out gray and i figure kurt was intended to be stark black with the use of blue highlighting his features. now i'd imagine kurt's skin is just as dark as the fur since he's able to blend into shadows too
The Corruptor originally danced between blue, black and purple.....
Notice the white hair and red eyes? That was an original color combination for the Dark Elves and was meant to symbolize evil and darkness in their characters....
Of course, Drizzt D'ourden was born with unique bright purple eyes to imply his kindness of character which is an exception for his depraved race......
The old adage: " Eyes are windows to the soul."
The writers of the X-men perhaps deliberately played with "Do not judge a book by its covers"....(Because the book is a mutant)
I allways thought it had something to do with the Kree influence on the Marvel Earth. some of them are blue and they have been known to mess with human dna before maybe they are the ancestors of the blue mutants.
"Is it really blue fur? They're never actually drawn to look particularly furry. Even Beast usually looks like hes got patches of fur and blue skin.@Gambit1024:

I think of Nightcrawler being more like movie Nightcrawler with blue skin.
