Trust me, it does not suck.  Cable is an awesome book; as for Bishop, Bishop is currently trying to rewrite history to keep millions of people from dying.  Maybe he's going about it in a way that no one agrees with, but he's still doing it for all the right reasons and if you look at it from his point of view, he's no different from someone like The Punisher.

More than that, in a way, he's Martyring himself. After all, if he stops the baby, chances are that he won't be born.

Brazil has the second largest population of African descendants in all the world. Second only to Nigeria, that means Brazil has a greater population of African blood than 55 other African nations, this is due to the slave trade. Also nearly all blacks descended from slaves are not purely African yet they remain Black. Black arguably the only race where one drop qualifies you..... So yeah Sunspot might count.

And he isn't in the normal X-Men universe yet but Sling Shot is Black and mutant. lol

Originally, "The Falcon" (Sam Wilson) possessed the ability to telepathically communicate with his pet falcon Redwing, but that ability has grown into the ability to telepathically communicate with any birds within an unknown radius. Through this telepathic link he is also able to receive mental images of what the birds see.

The Falcon vol. 1 #2, cover date December 1983. This issue reveals, in his own comic, that the Falcon is a mutant. He even spends the entire issue playing hide-and-seek with a Sentinel.

Wikipedia mentions somewhere that the idea of him being a mutant was later debunked, but I can't find any reference for that. Maybe the Red Skull used the Cosmic Cube to activate a latent X-gene?

It was a retcon when it was introduced, I believe, but if it hasn't been changed since, then it's still fact. Something doesn't get retconned away simply because you, or any other fan, says so, or believes so, or whatever. No offense, I'm just saying, no one's opinion is canon. Not even a writer's, unless they get it in print.

Also. Just to raise Cain. Bishop's nationality is hottly debated. His original bio, written by Nicieza, had him as Philipino. As of Cable #8, he's Australian Aborigine, not black. Unless you want to count Gateway, too.

But the bottom line is that there aren't many black mutants with any clout in the Marvel U.  You really can't call Bling, tattoo (who I'm 99% sure is depowered anyway), Debrii, or Doorman.

So, by your logic,

Polaris,

Xavier,

Beast,

Sunfire and Sunpyre,

and Neal Shaara are all not mutants. Xavier and Beast were both written by Stan Lee so that their inactive X-genes were activated because their fathers both worked on the Manhattan project, and Polaris, Sunfire, and Thunderbird all had their inactive X-genes activated by some outside force.

I'm just sayin'. You provided solid sources for an argument that he is canonically not a mutant, so fair play to you. Apparently, it has been changed since it was introduced. But when it was introduced, he was a mutant, just as much as Polaris, Xavier, or Sunfire. Just a mutant with an X-gene that was not expressed until he was altered by the Cosmic Cube, which activated his X-gene, which activated his powers. As that is no longer the canonical case, I concede. No need to get personal.
#86 Posted by DFChewie (150 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm not saying it's impossible for his origin to have changed in twenty-six years. Captain America's origin was significantly changed from 1983 to 2009. So was Bucky's. Heck, Wolverine's origin was written from '83 to '09. I was just saying that, in lieu of evidence that it had changed (evidence which you have now provided), we could only assume that it hadn't.

What about The Blue Marvel? In the first issue of his mini-series it was revealed that he was the main reason why Robert Kelly (who appears as a young man in the comic) created Project: Wideawake to take down the Mutants in the first place, not only that but Kelly implied that The Blue Marvel had been born with his abilities and did not get them by other means. So wouldn't that make The Blue Marvel a Mutant and possibly an Omega-Level one at that?

Are you sure he isn't Omega-Level? I mean the man is way stronger and far more powerful than The Sentry and was easily able to defeat The Anti-Man (who pwned The Sentry with a single punch when they first fought each other) and if that doesn't classify him an Omega-Level Mutant, then what would? I mean how does one even classify someone as being an Omega-Level Mutant?

Actually Apocalypse was born in Egypt but the day he met Nathaniel Essex (Mister Sinister) when he wasn't wearing the technology that Eson the Searcher of The Celestials gave him he looked a lot more African than Egyptian. Though I suppose that could be a side-effect of implanting Celestial technology into your body and then taking it out for a while to pass as a normal person while you go out and make some new friends.

"
Mutant, maybe. Omega-Level, no."

Technically yes."
because of being born in Africa?"
Actually Apocalypse was born in Egypt but it wasn't until the day he met Nathaniel Essex (Mister Sinister) that we got to see what he looked like under all that Celestial technology Eson the Searcher gave him. Though he looks more like an African than an Egyptian, which is kind of odd but that could have been a side-effect of implanting himself with Eson's technology."
Egypt is in Africa so I don't know how you can look more Egyptian than African. That is like saying you can look more European than German.
