What is your favorite X-Men movie? My favorite is definitely X2.
X-Men
Team » X-Men appears in 13410 issues.
The X-Men are a superhero team of mutants founded by Professor Charles Xavier. They are dedicated to helping fellow mutants and sworn to protect a world that fears and hates them.
Best X-Men movie?
I would agree, I thought X2 was the best by far. The first one was good, but they made many improvements on the second, and the story was engaging. Even my wife thought it was really good, and she can usually care less about "superhero" movies.
When I walked out of the theater after X3, I felt like I needed to take a shower. I just felt dirty for watching it for some reason I can't put my finger on.
I didnt see X3 until last week, I heard about the reviews right after it came out and decided not to see it. That and I saw a picture of Colusus and noticed he looked dumb. I think they did an alright job with Kitty although her part was small, I certainly enjoyed Juggernaut v. Kitty more than most of the movie.
And yeah X2 fucking rocks, best superhero movie I've seen. :D
X3.
I know the plot wasn't as good and there were problems and all that, but I hadn't seen many superhero movies in the theater and it was the first one that made me curse loudly at the awesomeness.
So it was stupid. I liked it.
X2 heads above the rest. I got bored watching X3 and the original, thats not supposed to happen in an action movie.
X3 was my favourite. Somehow, I completely missed all the flaws that I didn't read about from critics, and enjoyed a movie where we got to see X-men and Brotherhood duke it out. That said, X3 would not feel the same to me if I didn't watch the other two movies before it. I still remember how Spiderman and Xmen seemed to come out of no where and show dumb ass hollywood types just how bad ass and money making monsters comic book movies could be. For a long time there, it seemed like we would never see a good comic book movie again after the Superman series and the first two Batman. In fact, it seemed like we could track the feeling of how crap comic book movies were with the release of Batman & Robin and Batman Forever. Hollywood could never seem to see "comic" book movies as anything else other than what kids might go watch so they could sell more toys. Thank God for those who could see the fundamentals of entertaining stories in this stuff. Brian Singer Luv.
X2 shouldn't be my favorite because X3 should have been better than it, even though that would be a herculean task. But X3 was no where near as good a movie as X2. Unfortunately and understandably.
blah, i could not stand that movie either,,,, it had only 3 good things
one the ninja sceen where they show batsman use is mind
two him saying the demon head
and three the best saying in the movie which made if worth while too bad you had to sit though and 1hour of ack
"than again i dont have to save you either" thats was gold...
he couldnt fight for crap, they barely show any fighting he bats, he kick butt
he was not prepared most of the time....
i can care less if it "begins" just dont trash the imagine
i pray that 2 will be better
There isn't much to choose from. Just 1,2,3. I liked the 2nd one most. It was mad awesome. Wolverine rocked the movie.
1
The second one rocked something awesome. From the opening where we get to see Nightcrawler lay out the pace, to the berserker rage coming out, and Collossus breaking up the ambush a little, to the three battles at the end. Wolverine vs Deathstrike was tight, Cyclopse vs Jean was shortt, but it was a nice touch, giving a reason for the dam to break. And the battle of wits and explosives between Mags and Mystique vs Striker and goons was kind of amusing. I liked it a lot more than the first. The third was alright, but I agree with P- Man, it almost felt blasphemous.
Second one was the %$#@ the part were Stryker storms the X-Mansion was aswome. All the Wizard mags I read had Gambit as the X-Men fans most wanted to see, and Emma was second, Beast was last, so what do we get? Kesley Grammer as Beast. F U X3
X2 wins comfortably...
... but am i the only one who felt quite cheated by those movies, i felt so pissed off after seeing what happened to the Pheonix saga in X-men 3, it's actually hard to mess a Claremont story that good up. Don't get me started on Vinneie Jones as Juggernaut, in fact all of them, characterisation... minimal, that wasn't wolverine, that was Hugh Jackman being a bit aggresive ( i do like the Jack man though) HALLE GODDAMN BERRY as Storm, great actress but please, Storm's a pantheistic goddess lets see that, Halle's an oscar winning actress and a one of the best performing actresses around today, give her something to perform with not some lame-o incarnation of an overwise quality, fascinating character. Cyclops, what happened there? Need i even broach the whole Gambit deficit? i felt cheated and let down. X-2 wins the pyhric victory award for being the best of a bad bunch. Those films without the 'X-men' characters, change a few names, would've been good, but before i even saw the first one i hesitiated because someone had a responsibility to my childhood to do justice to a great bunch of characters that people actually love, hate and in Rogue's case have an embarrasing crush on.
Rant over... that'd built for a while.

Couldnt have said it better.
To add a factory full of salt to an otherwise fatal wound, the animated series was better.

in my eyes X3 was a big dissapointment...
at the end of X2 the promised a phoenix saga type movie... and that was what everyone wanted...
end the end of X2 if you were paying close attention you could see the shape of the phoenix beneith the water of the lake... it was bloody huge lol
and then in X3 we had no phoenix whatsoever... it was just a complete letdown
M
a really really downpowered dark phoenix... i didn't even see the connection between the character and the comic character.
the back stories were completely different, the poweres were pretty much completely different... it was wierd, every other character was almost perfect from the comics, exluding rogue of course lol
but phoenix was completely different... a real let down
M
=) I know you are going to hate this but I just have to say it: You guys are such comic book geeks!
The reason you found X3 a let down was because it deviated from the comic books? And this goes hand in hand with a comic franchise that consists of multiple universes, where deviation is quite often the norm!
Seriously, if you look past the Phoenix Saga of the comics and just view the movie for what it was, it was a romping good time of Xmen vs Brotherhood war! I find it hard to believe that the movie's Dark Phoenix was under powered, when she was practically ripping apart the very fabric of space with her mind!
For me, X3 was like X2 with the gloves taken off, where everyone finally gets to have real consequences for having some mind blowing mutations - characters die. Heck, for taking out Prof X, I just have to give the movie props! X2 may have had Logan raging, but X3 had him tearing things up Weapon X style. We even had mutants getting depowered! But are they really? Open for a sequel? You bet!
Here's an idea for a forth movie, a bit of a premise. The Senator isn't really dead, he has really become a mutant of the worst kind: Apocalypse.
I would agree with everything you just, except the geek thing. If your gonna make a COMIC BOOK movie, then shouldn't you make it, and not turn it into some Hollywood agents idea of how it should be? Look at Sin City, that movie was faithful to the comic and it was a huge success.
Actually the Phoenix is a little more accurate then many may think. It used the original Phoenix in the movie, which is exactly how Chris Claremont created pheonix. Phoenix was later retconned into the phoenix force as we know now. I actually liked the idea that X3 decided to use the original phoenix, but the ending was way too crappy... looked like they slapped something together because they were running late or something.

They probably were. Did anyone notice that at the end during the credits, that someone was Omega Red? Who? When? How? You can me a geek but come on, there was no one that even came close to being Omega Red.
CanadianWolverine says:
"I'm curious how you think the ending was rushed. I didn't get that sense with the whole Magneto playing with his chess set in more ways than one and Xavier's voice."
I meant ending the movie with the way they killed off Jean and since the movie was only 1 hour and 40 minute, which could have easily had another hour of run time. Also the last act seemed like it rushed it too much to me, but the The Magneto and Xavier part was a little surprise bonus I liked. My personal opinion.
Gambler says:
"I'm talking about the battle, the chess part was sweet. And there making a sequal to Sin City, I'm sure there will be different characters in it. I think its "A Dame To Kill For.""
I'm so excited for Sin City 2 because of the "A Dame to Kill For" story.. Marv and Dwight teaming up on the big screen is gunna be awesome.
Please, notice the smiley face I put in, a comic book geek calling others comic book geeks is meant to be tongue in cheek.
You have me there, sorta. Sin City isn't completely faithful to the comic books, there are ton more stories and characters in that series than what we had in the movie. Its just the nature of comic to movie that you're always going to have deviations, simply because the number of people involved is incredible compared to what you get in comic book creation. I think comic to movie really does well when you recognize the comic books as the ultimate in story board material.
I'm curious how you think the ending was rushed. I didn't get that sense with the whole Magneto playing with his chess set in more ways than one and Xavier's voice.
