Bendis Next To Take On The X-Men!

They have him change how he's going to lead every week it seems. First he's just going to leave and essentially be America in WW2, then he takes an active approach to look over his area. For Schism they are at war and have to do whatever it takes to survive. Then he tries to be a superhero group looking after everyone like the Avengers. Now he wants to put fear in everyone so they won't mess with mutants? Can they please stick with one and go with it? This flipping and flopping is annoying.
We know that Avengers Vs X-Men is meant to have some major changes for the Marvel Universe. Honest, this time. Well, this looks like the first of them.
After Avengers Vs X-Men, we know Brian Bendis is bringing to a close his writing and showrunning of the Avengers comics for Marvel. But what next for their golden child?
I’ve been told by a number of industry sources only one thing. That he’ll be taking over the X-Men books.
Brian Bendis came to the Avengers books with the Avengers Dissassembled storyline that saw the Scarlet Witch take the team apart – and then the world itself in House Of M. Relaunching as The New Avengers, the book would then split in two, in three, before spearheading the Secret Invasion storyline. And with The Ultron War now coming, with Bryan Hitch andAvengers Vs X-Men, it’s time for Brian Bendis himself to switch sides.
Marvel are expected to perform some form of Marvel relaunch, possibly as a wave rather than a DC All-In-One – and one could also argue that Marvel have been doing that for the past couple of years anyway. But Brian Bendis will be the writer of the X-Men titles, in the same way that he writes Avengers and New Avengers now.
I wonder if he’ll be bringing Scarlet Witch with him?

What cute art! Who is that, the guy who draws Doonesbury? Simply dazzling an maaaah-vul-lish! This guy should draw everything for Marvel.

WELP. My pull just got a LOT shorter.
Fck Bendis. I won't buy a damn thing that he touches.
And yet you're buying AVX? =P
Ugh, I miss ye olde New Avengers days, back when the Civil War had just finished and Dr. Strange was on the New Avengers team. That was Bendis' finest hour. Bendis is alright (highlight the word alright) when it comes to team books, provided he gets characters he actually understands and he doesn't try to have them invade Asgard.
Just please, for the love of everything holy in the X-verse, don't let him touch Uncanny X-Force.

Or X-Factor. Or Legacy. Or Uncanny (Emma's been through enough turmoil under Fraction)
This is why it's a scary notion. In the link you posted, it says " be the writerof the X-Men titles " as if to state plural. When Bendis moves into a corner of the Marvel Universe, he tends to take overall creative control over the family of books and dictate to the other writers what they will, can and can't write (hence my post here). Sick to my stomach literally right now at the thought. Remember when him and Fraction worked together on Dark Avengers/X-Men. Or all that time Fraction was in the X-verse, and had a huge degree of push over the other X-books writers? Yes, we all do. This just can't be allowed to happen. It can't! X-Men books are the core of my hobby and I intentionally drop books that Bendis is involved in this year as it is. Starting to do the math, if this happened I might actually end up reading less Marvel books as opposed to other publishers like IDW, Image/Top Cow and Dynamite.
Cripes almighty.
So, does this mean that the next universe-shattering events will all be X-men based?
Is Wolverine a skrull?
- Considering how bad the current x-books are I don't think Bendis can actually make it worse regardless of his hit and miss record on other Marvel titles
- He seems to like set rosters so at least that could be a benefit of the change
@redleigh86: Um...Yeah, I don't think that putting bad language under a spoiler block makes it okay, but I'm not sure of the rules.
They practically change daily.
Well, the X-Men franchise is the only thing more watered down than the Avengers in Marvel right now....
What if Marvel is planning a reboot of the entire 616 universe that is similarly structured after the DC reboot? That might be interesting. Let's hope Bendis gets left behind in the old universe.
YOU CAN'T BE AN ARCHITECT OF SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T EXIST ANYMORE, YOU BALD-HEADED BASTARD.
Cool. Too bad I'm not an anti-Whedon troll anymore. I've put petty indifferences behind me.@Illuminatus said:

*Wakes up*
Ugh, it's hot, I hate hot days. And my family is fighting; awesome. Today looks to be a fun day.
*Goes on Comicvine*
WHAT THE HELL, MARVEL? DESTROYING THE SENTRY, THE AVENGERS AND SPIDER-MAN WASN'T ENOUGH? YOU HAVE TO LET THE HUMAN CANCER ON THE GODDAMN X-MEN NOW? YOU F*CKING WORTHLESS, MONEY-HUNGRY SACKS OF CRAP! AND TO ANYONE WHO BUYS THIS, I HOPE YOU DIE.
BENDIS, I GIVE YOU FAIR WARNING, MESS WITH CYCLOPS, AND I SWEAR, I WILL COME FOR YOU.
Seriously though. He pretty much revitalized the most recognizable X-Men and their new motto. I don't see why he's not writing at least one of the X-titles.@Illuminatus said:

That would be one way for them to lose a fan to DC forever.

Eh, I don't think it matters. They should either reboot the 616 universe or destroy it completely and do a massive expansion on the Ultimate universe.@Illuminatus said:

I'm just starting to like Emma Frost, so you've piqued my interest? What runs did Fraction control?

Also, Bendis is doing a decent job on Ult. Spidey.

The Ultimate Universe sucks. I'd still give up on them

There's an Ultimate Spidey? I thought they killed him....
