Prior to Avengers vs. X-Men coming out I remember reading an interview with someone at Marvel claiming that AvX was going to be contained in two books. It appears that that was a lie as most of the Avengers or X-Books I picked up this week were emblazoned with AvX logos. So my question is, what order should I be reading this stuff or does it not even matter?

I think what they meant was that they're not be a million one-shots and mini-series tying into the main event. They always said that the regular titles would be hit by the event, but even then they'd keep it reasonably sensible and not tie in to too many (e.g. X-Factor and Uncanny X-Force are unnaffected). The tie-in titles are Avengers, New Avengers, Avengers Academy, Uncanny X-Men, Wolverine and the X-Men, X-Men Legacy and Secret Avengers. Luckily I get all of these titles anyway (bar Academy). Would say that so far the best tie-ins have been the X-Men ones, the Secret Avengers has been great too and New Avengers is shaping up to be important in terms of tying Iron Fist to Hope. Keep meaning to get a reading order sorted! Reading in the correct order does matter. For example, I'd read the latest issue of WATXM before the latest issue of X-Men Legacy as one definitely follows on from the other.

New Avengers/Avengers tie-ins are complete and utter crap, especially that stupid New Avengers one. Where was this so called "connection" with the PF when Jean first possesed it's power ? Where was it during Planet X ? Where was Ironfist and Co. during Endsong ?... These are the quesitons that haunt me.

@John Valentine: John Valentine you are my bro to the max! I'd assume that the three page intro thing in Point One would be first and that Nova digital thing would come directly before AvX #1 since there's some overlap in what they are showing.

This is my opinion of the reading order so far, with a focus on X-title tie-ins. I really wouldn't bother with the Avengers titles; they've been most disappointing. Secret Avengers #26 was good, though. I'd place it as happening between the end of AvX #2 and the beginning of AvX #4. Avengers Academy AvX #29 occurs after AvX #3, though.

Oh, yeah, there was that Nova bit in January's Point One issue too. Also, Avengers: X-Sanction directly precedes the main AvX series.

@John Valentine: Secret Avengers takes place mostly after AvX #2... AvX #2 ended with the tease for what happened in Secret Avengers #26 with the Secret Avengers in space as the Phoenix Force approached which we see followed up on in that issue. :)

Can we just pretend X-Sanction never happened?

But the preparation for their meeting with the Phoenix takes place around the same time as AvX #1, and the fight must lead on from the end of AvX #2 until the beginning of AvX #4.

Well, Noh-Varr, Thor and Ms. Marvel are all in AvX #1, and most of the issue is set after AvX #2 sans that first scene that's presumably set during.

Avengers Academy #29 is between AvX 2 and 3. All The New Avengers stuff thus far is set hundreds of years before AvX 0...so I guess that stuff is truly first :)

Not completely sure, sorry, only flicked through those issues in store.

But I'd say that New Avengers #25 and #26 obviously occur before the event. They're set around 400 years ago.

I think Avengers #25 occurs before AvX #1.

Avengers Academy #29 must be set just after AvX #2/during AvX #3.

Secret Avengers AvX #26 happens across the span of AvX #1/2/3/4.

The new Avengers 24 is before the AVX#1 except the ending obviously.

And I think Secret Avengers 26 is after AVX#1 not too sure can`t remember.

    Uncanny X-men 12 is right before AVX#4.

I think there is a conflict though with this order. how can WatXM 10 be between AvX 3 n 4? if you guys have read AvX 4, I think you guys can agree with me?
