Yea, I was saying that mohawks were cool years ago but they are returning as a trend again. That's why i gave the example of the box cut...sorry, I couldn't tell the difference.
X-Men
Team » X-Men appears in 13417 issues.
The X-Men are a superhero team of mutants founded by Professor Charles Xavier. They are dedicated to helping fellow mutants and sworn to protect a world that fears and hates them.
Are you going to buy the all-female team X-Men Book most especially because of...
I always liked Storm's mohawk.
But then, I never thought of it as an attempt to be "hip" or "edgy". Honestly, I thought it was supposed to be a throwback to her tribal background in Africa.
Eh, whatever. Storm's bad*** no matter what she does with her hair.
However, I'm mainly getting this book cause Jubilee's in it.
Jubilee frickin' rocks.
@Vance Astro: eh, I don't know what a box cut is, but I see what you mean.
Maybe it's that, where I'm from, they never stopped being cool.

I don't know what you're getting at, but this is pretty damn cool.
The point I was making was like the mohawk that's a haircut that went out of style and has now come back for a younger generation but some people are two old to follow fads. Storm rocked the mohawk when it was cool the first time.I don't know what you're getting at, but this is pretty damn cool.
@Vance Astro: now I really don't see your point.
I don't see how she can be "following a fad" if she was rocking a mohawk "when it was cool the first time."
And I don't remember mohawks ever not being cool.
you also seem to be implying that beyond a certain age people are incapable of being cool, which, besides being ridiculous, makes no sense in this case. Because she liked that haircut "when it was cool the first time", she can't like it now?

G-Brian Wood. Eventually, that is.

Coipel's art is amazing.
Wood's The Massive (wayy too much innuendo here) is one of the best books on my pull list, so I'm deffos giving this a shot.
LOL.

I voted G, mostly because I'm not a big fan of any of the characters, but I do find the premise interesting.
Plus I don't hate any of the characters either.
I honestly want to see something new and interesting done with Rachel. While I'm a fan of Rogue, I'm not particularly fond of the last direction I saw her going (read: Magneto's bedroom). Psylocke has been through the ringer, and I'm not too excited to see her doing much. Storm could be nice to watch emerge as a very powerful leader and confident individual.

Re-emerge, I think. Storm works best when she's not under someone else's jurisdiction.
I think that's why she makes more sense with Wolverine than Cyclops; Wolverine trusts her to lead the X-men. I don't think he wants to lead, he just feels it's his duty to protect the school. Like in All New X-men #4, when the young X-men ask who's in charge, they both say "I am", but you get the sense that they aren't disagreeing with each other by doing so, they just trust eachother to be in charge of different things.
And, yeah, definitely wanna see more Rachel in the spotlight.
I'm interested to see how the dynamic of Storm and Psylocke will play out in 2 books simultaneously. I've been Psylocke obsessed for 20+ years so I pretty much pick up anything she's in (except that mucked up Exiles nonsense, blech and any issue drawn by Greg Land, double blech)
I haven't seen much of Jubilee since the vampiric transformation, that'll be fun to see too. They better bring in some supporting ladies as mentioned in a few other threads. Blink, Dust, Magma, Husk, Frenzy, they need some tender lovin'.
G. It could be Toad, Goop, Lockheed as the main characters in it but as long as it says "X-Men" and it has Coipel doing the art, it's a win. Who cares how bad the story could be, Coipel is drawing it!
I really want to say G and then type breast as the reason but I won,t much to mature for that so I,l say G all of the above.
@dangallant984 Well, right. But, it's been some time since she led a team. Storm was a great leader, imo, and she has a strong personality and can manage her people well. It would be nice to see that side of her get a chance to shine again. And, if her rumored upcoming relationship with Logan (which I think would be interesting) does come to fruition, it could make her a great mainstay of the books. Not that she NEEDS Logan to be that, but I think it would help her have a more prominent role not only in the new X-book, but at the school in general.
@DarkxSeraph: I don't think we'll see them become an actual couple, and honestly I think it would be better for Storm not to be propped up by any male characters for the time being. She doesn't need that.
That said, I am glad to see her back at the school, and I do really like the relationship she already has with Wolverine. To me, it's one of comics most classic friendships, and makes for a nice constant in the X-men's world.

I am happy about it. : )
For me it's Kitty. She's always been one of my favorites. Though I also really like Psylocke, Storm, and Rogue. Rachel's cool too. Never been much of a Jubilee fan. The only reason I ever really liked her is because if she was in a story, Wolverine (my favorite X-Man) was generally never too far away.

I like every member of this team. I'm not much of a Rogue fan anymore but I love Storm,Jubes,Psy,Kitty & Rachel.
I hear you Vance.. Rogue has lost my interest completely over the last couple of years. you used to be so spunky, wild, colorful, and likable... Now she is boring as a box of rocks.
Go on and play with the Avengers, Rogue. Good Riddance.
Only X-Girl that can do that is Storm :)Go on and play with the Avengers, Rogue. Good Riddance.

@jhazzroucher: It really is the combination of a classic, all star cast, being done by creators that I really like, that really sells me on this one. Storm's the only one you could take away that would make me lose interest in this, she's the key, but the whole cast looks great.
I like the entire ensemble. Like jhazz said it is a classic combination. It is reminiscent of the strong female groups that the X-Men had around issue 250. Especially the "girls night out" issue #244 which was Jubilee's 1st appearance. Adding Rachel and Kitty only add some older X-Men and Excalibur flavor.
@knighthood: which is a great flavour of X-men. Never could get into Silvestri, though.
When I saw it, I thought more of this:
I think it was more because of the mohawk, and how bad ass everyone looks, but I do think of Storm/Kitty/Rachel/Rogue as a more classic line-up than the replacement (outback) X-men. I do like how it evokes both eras though.
Man am I pumped for this book.

Good point. That is before Excalibur separated the group. If they ever put Nightcrawler, Wolvie, Storm, Colossus, and Kitty in team book again I'd go bonkers.
@lorex: Even though Dazzler's powers and Jube's are very similar, I would like Dazzler on this roster.
