I was just wondering if anyone anywhere in the X-Universe there would be a character that could fight with Captain Marvel evenly?, I ask this cause I know there are some pretty powerful mutants but also an old relative of mine was into comics when he was younger was saying how they should have done a CM movie instead of another X-Men one also stating that not one member of any X-men( He thinks anything he see with an X & a comic on it is x-men related, this is how old he is) would be able to take on Billy, So since I myself have never claimed to be that well versed in the X-men universe I decided to ask some that may be so this way i may be able to prove him wrong.

There are plenty of mutants that wouldn't even break a sweat with him

Well, as an infant, she was captured by a demon and tortured into becoming the demon queen of 'limbo', aka hell. She is a mutant that can teleport, has a magic sword, and studies magic with Dr. Strange. She's not the physical powerhouse that CM is, but has the magical abilities to hang with the big boys.

Both characters had the opportunity to sell their souls, but while CMs was to pure for Neron to use, Magik cut hers into pieces and used them as weapons.

Rogue.....it'd be interesting to see how that would go.

Not only can she teleport to Limbo, she has the Soulsword, which disrupts magic, meaning she can un-transform CM at will.

Ohh, Is the Soulsword a long range attack or an up close one because if it is the latter then she would have to try & catch up to him unless she is good in the speed department as well?

@deathgorath444: She's a teleporter who can also time travel, I don't think speed is much of an issue.

And the soulsword is a longsword...made out of soul.

Well I do remember a time where CM took a bomb that basically turned him inside out & survived & even Superman stating that he was probably the only one who could have survived that so there's that.

Magnetically induced stroke. Really the only factor that puts him over the top is the magical aspect of his powers, how strong, durable , fast and smart he is tends to very ALOT. And despite surviving huge explosions, he's been punched out by Black Adam and Superman....so punch vs one of the fundamental forces of nature, too many variables.

Cyclops would take him :-p

But really most any telepath, Iceman, any omega level mutant for sure and alot of the Alpha level ones would put up a good fight if not win

Probalby all omaega level mutantss, Magik (soul sword pwns magical abuilities), Storm, and Maybe Rogue, Havok and Cyclops. Thode three are probablhy powerful enough to do enough damage to ko or lill Billy, and Cuke is a pretty smartt guy. Also any X-men witrh telkepathisc powers sinc e Billy hasn't faced an enemy like that uet in New 52.

I;ve just got back form the bafr, so take this with a grain of salt.

As for straight up fight, young Jean Grey (sent forward from the past, but Xavier's safeguards on her are slipping because he's dead) recently put the brakes on Gladiator. Cannonball, while 'blasting', similarly stands up to most anything. Sunspot... could while he was in Asgard, not so much on Earth. Vulcan took on the entire Imperial Guard, but Gladiator stopped him cold.

The main issue would be speed. I don't think that Magneto or other big guns are fast enough to even hit him. Then most telepaths should be able to beat him(if they are fast enough), and Magik should definitely be able to kill him. She can teleport, manipulate time and erase magic abilities, she's the perfect weapon against such characters.

Dang now cyclops can take him too WTF made upgrades since I last read X-Men, What about Strong Guy, Could he take CM & Would CM be able to move Blob threw force alone?

They don't have to "hit" him. Magneto can blindly use his powers, he doesn't need to see something to manipulate it, he only has to know it exists. If all I have to do is think about you to affect you, then your speed shouldn't be an issue. Magneto has enough feats of reacting to super speed to be able to just think about CM to take him out. Any energy manipulator that can create forcefields that have blocked lasers after they have been fired, can obviously deal with light speeds and lower.

No, Cyclops wouldn't stand a chance. Juggernaut is a one trick pony, and while he could match CM blow for blow, CM has too many other tricks up his sleeves.

Doesn't stop him from loosing though. Buried in Cement, and the basic BFR. Really, he only knows how to move forward and hit things.

@lordofallhumans it doesn't work that way. Magneto nor any other mutant energy manipulator could be fast enough to react to him. He is on Superman level speed, no X-Men could even try to touch him or use his powers on him except maybe for telepaths or time manipulators. The others are gonna get blitzed soon.

Following your logic, since Jean Grey or Magneto, for example, has reacted to energy blasts then they could be able to react to Superman, Wonderwoman or other people who move at light speed? A lot of people in comics created shields that took lasers, that doesn't mean that all these people have light speed reaction times.

CM is too fast for most of the X-Men, maybe except for telepaths and time manipulators(or people like Iceman that can live even if their body is destroyed), and as many DC characters on his league he could take them out of the game before they can even realize they started to fight.

No. It would be Shaman X-Man. Same Nate, but different levels of power.

@veitha: In some cases, 'light' can be a limiting effect. Basically, if someone is reliant on light to reach their eyes, they aren't going to be able to react until it does.

In Magneto's case, his awareness is actually tied to magnetic fields, and is aware of distortions in them. For example, when Phoenix was eating planets during AvX, he became aware of it and threw the fight against Iron Man, hundreds if not thousands of years before the light from that star will ever reach Earth. (Though he does have to consciously extend those senses past Earth's field.)

That said, the biggest problem Magneto would be for CM is the same thing as most villains or anti-heroes vs heroes. He has a lot less regard for property damage and civilian lives.

@tyger his awareness didn't prevent Quicksilver from blitzing him in the same event. He was able to detect the Phoenix yes, but he won't be able to detect someone who moves as fast as Superman and that has to cover a short distance to beat him.

@deathgorath444 X-Force has no chance, maybe if Domino's luck comes into play he may accidentally fall while trying to reach them... but then Domino would just beat anyone lol. Telepaths, people who can live without a physical body and time manipulators are the only mutants who might think to beat him if we consider his great speed. Then removing the speed the list of people who can beat him would get longer.

@veitha: Then how exactly does it work? How fast do lasers travel? Superman and Wonder Woman and by extension CM are not always operating at these light speeds you are claiming or they would never be tagged ever, by your logic.

We are not discussing if the shield can or cannot take a laser, we are discussing it being put up before the laser reaches the person behind the shield. People like Magneto and Jean have over 20 years of consistent showings doing that. Reaction time is the time it takes for your mind to process information in order for your body to react, physical reactions have nothing to do with powers that only require you to think. They don't have to think and raise their hands, that is reaction time. They don't have to react at all, they only need to be aware and think. As I said all Magneto needs to know is that you are there and he can use his powers whether he physically sees you or not so in that case your speed is not an issue.

In a purly physical battle, yes his speeds matters or if he comes out of nowhere without them having previous knowledge, but in a straight up face to face confrontation his speed must be summoned just like their powers, mentally. His mind and thoughts are operating at normal speeds until after he uses his actual speeds, so they are tied until one activates their powers, Magnetos powers don't have to cross any distance, he thinks stuff happens. Therefore he should have no real trouble taking CM down in a fair fight.

Except he didn't. He hit him once, after the battle started (when Magneto should have definitely had it up already.) But given their last conversation and all QS had been through, I almost wonder if he didn't let him get the shot in. (Similar to the way Batman/Bruce let Punisher get a shot in.)

From his first appearance Exodus seemed like he could tank almost anyone. From then on...not so much!

Well, in the DC vs Marvel they had Thor control it, but it caused feedback that caused him to loose his grip on Mjolnir. But... Storm is more finesse vs Thor's brute force.

Also, CM has been turned by normal lightning at times... though other times not. Has it been done recently?
