Plot Summary

Franklin Richards, the powerful son of Reed Richards and the Invisible Woman, both believed dead at the hands of Onslaught, is having a nightmare in which he sees his family disappear, only to be replaced by the face of the man he believes is responsible, Joseph. He wakes, and is comforted by his friends, the young mutants Artie and Leech who have joined him on a trip to Hank McCoy’s parents in Dunfee, Illinois, along with Storm and Gambit. Norton, Beast’s father, invites the kids on a tractor ride and Remy decides to join them. In a bar in Dunfee, a group of men including Buck and Grange Janssen discuss the mutant situation, Graydon Creed’s assassination and the influx of mutants into their town, such as Hank McCoy. Grange Janssen intends to do something about it. During the tractor adventure, Franklin decides he wants to even the score with Joseph and disables the tractor, enabling himself and his two friends to lose themselves in the forest. Gambit sends a kinetic energy flare to warn Storm and the others that something’s wrong but Storm is shot as she flies to help. Artie and Leech are captured and tied to a tree by Janssen and his friends who then capture Beast when he appears. Luckily the police arrive after Buck told them what was occurring to stop Janssen’s nonsense which allows Beast to get Leech to Franklin, cutting off his power. Janssen and his mob are taken away. Franklin meanwhile teleports Joseph into the fields nearby and attacks him for killing his parents. Joseph is confused and tries defending himself but isn’t powerful, or malicious enough to take on Franklin. Remy tries helping Joseph but he too is caught in Franklin’s mental attack. When Gambit finally gets through to him, Franklin is unable to stop his assault, but is brought under control with Leech’s power negating effect. Franklin appears to lose interest in Joseph, instead wanting to play ball with his friends.
