The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants creates a distraction, destroying a building. While the X-Men save the people, their enemies escape. Meanwhile, Mystique, imitating Gambit, is ready to kill Senator Kelly, but she's stopped by timely arrival of the real Gambit.

As Bishop finds the two Gambits, he's more than happy to shoot them both just to make sure. However, Rogue sends him back to the future by breaking his temporal transponder. Mystique confesses that she's really Rogue's adoptive mother and wanted Rogue to join Apocalypse so that they could be together. Rogue allows Mystique to leave.

As Bishop finds himself in his own time again, he's surprised to see that nothing changed, except Wolverine is dead, with only his adamantium skeleton remaining. Forge supposes that Bishop would need to return to the past once more and finish his job.

The problem is that Senator Kelly is kidnapped by Magneto. Professor X uses Cerebro to detect Magneto's lair and sends the X-Men to rescue Kelly, knowing that this is the only way to change the future.
