Ditch the Kids, Jason Aaron. 5

The schism between Cyclops and Wolverine really starts to take shape this issue, but distracting from that is the development of Jason Aaron's new Hellfire Club which feels completely out of place in this story. This results in a story that feels at odds with itself. Part of it is an intelligent and believable handling of the X-Men's situation in the world while the other part involves a completely ridiculous and unbelievable new team of villains.  As he did for the most part last issue, Aaron c...

Schism starts to pick up the pace, but it's still a slow one 2

After the telepathic attack on the UN by Quentin ' Kid Omega' Quire, the world leaders sentinels gather their sentinel troops. But when their robot start malfunctioning and attacking humans, the X-men go out to save a world which hates and fears them. Meanwhile, the newly appointed leader of the Hellfire club, 12 year old Kane Kilgore, sets his anti-mutant plans in motion.   Hit Okay, from what I gather, not many people like the idea of an evil 12 year old billionaire with the ...

Rock solid but a lot of storytelling left. 3

I loved "X-Men Schism" #1 and even though it was a table setting issue it had some great character interactions and placed the pieces for what feels like an important X-Men event. Issue #2 builds on the first book but in slower more measured steps than I expected.  While writer Jason Aaron advances his story it still feels like he's putting things into place. It doesn't feel like it's fully taken shape yet and with only three issue left, it seems like there is still a lot of story to develop. B...

    Schism #2 - Going Nowhere Fast. 8

Schism #2 is out, and after reading it, I gotta say: We are in for a bumpy ride. Thing is... is it necessarily a good thing? No. In fact, it's bad. Very, very bad.  WARNING:Full of Spoilers.  The ArtThe art was overall bad. Of course it's not terrible to the point you cringe (most of times), but in between Scott's new creepy look (the low point of the magazine), Wolverine's face, Quentin Quire's tooth-canyon and awkward poses, we are left with not so many high-points in this department. Not too ...

Genius is never appreciated in its own time 0

This issue picks right off from the previous issue and runs pretty much the same way. There is no fighting but we know the X-men are scattered around the globe and dealing with various Sentinel programs. There is even mention of various other superheroes such as Iron Man and Thor in the midst of this. Some of the dialogue felt overly political and a tad bit unnecessary. And the main villain hardly seems interesting. If you read the previous issue, you’ll know whom I’m referring to. Since I’v...

    Kids? Really? 1

This whole schism storyline has been bult up as the event of the year but 2 issues in and I'm hating it. It's almost like it's a parody, from the balding 'iranian' president, to the campy quintin quire to those bloody kids. There were some grumbles during the last event about Bastion not being a 'big' enough villian, well we're definitely scraping the bottom of the barrel with this group of kids. Kade on his own I might have been able to endure but the whole group (and especially the way the gir...

    Sentinels Run Amok 0

In the next installment of Jason Aaaron's X-Men: Schism the sentinels are being deployed all across the world to hunt down the mutant menace and save humanity. The only problem that their creators didn't count on was saving humanity from the sentinels. Many of the giant robots have been in storage for a decade and are crashing left and right or attacking humans as soon as they're activated. The X-Men, Avengers, and any other Marvel hero are on the case as they try and stop any collateral damage ...

    X-men Schism # 2 0

X-men Schism #1 was a hit issue but let's see if this next issue will follow it's predecessor's foot stepsThe GoodThe writing Done By Jason aaron is phenominal he's taking he's introducing some new cool villains And the Art is good in my opinion but last issue's art was better and it leaves readers with a very good endingThe Not so GoodI didn't say Bad because technically ther's nothing bad about this book but it has some minor setbacks like Jason Aaron is dragging the story and the event is hal...
