    Father and Son

Since Marvel started to anounce this "Schism" new arc story I´ve began to wonder what could be the reason behind Logan and Scott fighting over for, something so big (that´s not Jean) even capable of dividing the X-Men - I was wondering that because the biggest discussion that Logan and Scott have had recently was about shuting down the X-Force, but that couldn´t be reason strong enough to justify the "Schism", so I was very excited to read this miniseries in order to learn what could be so big and important to drive away this two major characters - unfortunately this issue wasn´t about answers, on the the hand, this was a reconciliation, a tribute by Xavier to Scott and if the premise of this series was really to tell stories from the past, reviving important moments of the X-Men, this would have been a 5 star issue, but the true aim of this series isn´t about telling requiems and elegies, isn´t about saying things from the heart, so I thought this was a little out of focus, though the characterization of Xavier, his narrative, his ways, all of that was very nostalgic, proving that Jenkins is an excellent writer for this kind of material (proof of that are the Mythos series, his work in the Sentry, the Inhumans, Wolverine:Origins and so on), but to tell new things, I wish Marvel had selected other writer - but again, perhaps this was Marvel´s agenda all the way: just tell good stories from the past. Roberto De La Torre is a fantastic artist, but sometimes his fuzzy style doesn´t work so great, but as far as the art and the colors go, this was a great issue - Jenkins´ dialogues and narrative were cool too, the problem is that they just didn´t fit right, in my opinion, for what´s proposed this series to be.

Flashbacks consisting of Cyclops' time as a member of the X-Men under the guidance of Professor X fill the pages of this book which is the prelude to the next X-Men event, Schism. The Good I'm usually not one who enjoys X-books, especially preludes to major summer events. Many times, they're lackluster overall, but in issue one of Prelude to Schism, we get more than a set-up to a major story arc. We get to view the relationship between Cyclops and Charles Xavier over the years, and you know what?...

Great Insight into the Past 0

Between this mini-series and unbranded X-Men's current story arc, we've been delving into the past quite a bit.  I'm really curious to see just how the fact that they forgot that info gets retconned - although Scott did already hint at Jean.  Even this part 1 of Prelude to Schism has Prof X lampshading a supposedly common manta that no one's ever heard by saying he's full of surprises.  I read this book after issues 2 and 3 because it was sold out at the local comic shop by the time I got back i...
