"Literally or Metaphorically?"
Okay, this one tied up a lot of questions that the first issue left. So that's a major plus. That still haven’t explained the big issue, like why the hell these demons have kidnapped Pixie, who "he" is that they’re afraid of catching them and who the big red demon leading them is. Although, the last one I have a guess at. He kind of reminds me of Sym, if Sym were a little brighter.
In a lot of ways, actually, it seems to either alluding to or ripping off the most basic aspects of Storm and Illyana, with her gradually going darker with tiny bits of prompting. The one major difference, though, is that it isn't her friends turning on her, but rather Pixie turning on them. That really irked me because there have never been any hint that she was building to this, even when she went back to Limbo to try to get her soul back.
The continuity is better, though. And the characterization. Although in full disclosure, they are pretty much the same thing here. Aside from Pixie (I will not turn this into a rant about mucking up her character), the characters were all behaving in the manor they have been in the other series lately. Frost isn't being portrayed as the loving school teacher, but rather the very busy and easily irritated woman she always has been. Rockslide and Anole have the same friendly banter that they developed in New X-Men (II) and perfected in Young X-Men. And I love how no matter how the demons tried, they couldn't make X-23 behave 'normal', even for the Goth-roll they tried to fit her into.
So, I enjoyed this. I really did.
