X-Men Legacy #267 Review
Overview:
The staff of the Jean Grey School continue to duke it out with the Avengers
The Good:
Everything, this issue was amazing. In the last issue and in this one there is a very heavy focus on Rogue and her time as a villain and when she fought the Avengers. This issue she makes a decision about what to do and uses her old, less controllable powers to get an edge over the Avengers and we get a glimpse inside of her head with various thought bubbles and it brings the story to a whole new level. Not only do we get to see her thoughts but the thoughts of who she absorbs and with Moon Knight in the fight, things get crazy. Literally.
Christos Gage’s writing is phenomenal in this issue, even with the intense focus on Rogue he is able to balance it out with other staff members and it creates a much deeper fight than Rogue vs. Everyone. The way he deals with Iron Man’s presence is particularly cool and I can honestly say that I didn’t see it coming.
The art, while still Rafa Sandoval’s is good fit to the issue. The way he draws faces when they are punched shows skin moving and distorted instead of just a twisted head and it really enhances the fight because She-Hulk and Rogue with She-Hulk’s strength should really mess people up.
The Bad:
I still don’t like the way Sandoval draws the women’s hair (to poofy) but it doesn’t detract from this issue at all, everything else is just too awesome.
Verdict:
A great tie-in to AvX that is fight centric but able to tell a great story at the same time and I can’t wait until the staff joins the main AvX fight.
