    Nightmares of the Past 6

The X-Men continue to recuperate after the events of Age of X as Rogue and Magneto realize just how much they’ve been through together both in reality and fantasy. Meanwhile Legion continues to try to bring his thousands of personalities under control and Frenzy attempts to figure out how to let go of a dream that felt more natural than the reality she finds herself trying to sleepwalk through. The Good No matter how many times now we may revisit Magneto’s past in a concentration camp, it give...

Presently, in My Future's Past 2

Rogue and Magneto have a heart to heart, Frenzy owns her rage, and legion owns himself.  The Good The art by Rafa Sandoval is a big improvement to last issue's  Carey write's a great Magneto and doesn't fall into many of the traps other have when writing about his past  I like what he's doing with Frenzy, he's delving into her psychology and I'm excited to see where that goes  Carey sets up some interesting things on the horizon concerning Legion   The Bad Not a fan of this cover, Rogue's facial...

Inexplicable and unexplained character motivations 1

This is the worst Rogue story I've ever read. All you need to know about this issue is that she's an idiot so Magneto can look awesome. This is an all time low for her character and let's all cross our fingers it's retconned asap. The motives of both Rogue and Magneto are a mystery to the reader- the premise of this issue is built upon their supposed mutual attraction in the Age of X cross over, but this was never even shown on panel even though there were six issues to do it in. Magneto presses...

Many Stories About to Burst Free 3

I'm jumping into the middle of the X-Men books right now.  The last time I read the X-Men was right before Onslaught.  (Just got the TP so I could finally read that story)  There's clearly a LOT of stuff going on right now.  This book is busy and is essentially 3 different stories happening at once.  I loved the first story, about Magneto when he was in the concentration camp.  The second story about a mutant with multiple personalities was a bit much to jump into.  The third one was about Gambi...

    Shocking yet dull 0

A hard combination to pull off: usually when an issue contains a shock as deliberate at this there's at least one guilty laugh to be squeezed from the experience. But not here, from an issue which is both deeply earnest but hugely stupid. Another reviewer has mentioned the incongruity of the Magneto/Rogue ending. I'll try not to add too his reasons for objecting to the relationship in general- something that wasn't a convincing ship in 1990 and is even less so after 20 years of stories which had...
