Why are we here again? Should we be here?

We enter the issue with Utopia under attack from an army of reanimated mutants and Blindfold with a message to deliver to Cyclops.

Before I go any further I have to say I’m in love with the cover by Adi Granov. He has shown the power and grace of the X-team in action. With the chaos of the moment, the team looks like a moment of calculated force.

I’ve been reading the Necrosha storyline and I’m really enjoying it. This is the first issue that hasn’t come from the New Mutants or X-Force titles and I was looking forward to it.

Mike Carey has created some great dialogue here. There are scenes that highlight the youth and vulnerability of some characters and others that show a number of unresolved issues with great restrained emotion. It can sometimes be the things that aren’t said that are the most interesting.

But my favourite part of the whole issue involves a demonstration on why a particular character is a “heavy hitter”. It was well written by Carey, well pencilled by Clay Mann and beautifully executed.

This issue feels kinda off centre a bit. Seems to me that this issue has been included just to show that Necrosha has a huge impact across the X-titles.  But this is a tiny criticism overall. I hope the next issue will give it a bit more grounding and show the fit with the Necrosha storyline.

Beyond that, it was a good issue. I’m looking forward to see how it pans out for the team.  The final 5 pages were really good. Especially a second time around to enjoy the writing of Mike Carey and the art on the final page by Clay Mann.

I liked it better when there were less mutants... 0

To be frank my attention and acceptance for the resurrection of dead characters in both Marvel and DC has been wearing thin. Yes Zombies are cool, super powered zombies are even better, but when it seems that Marvel and DC are taking us back to where we were in comics 10 or 20 years ago i have a problem with that. And No Wolverine does not appear in this book, despite him being on the cover. The X men and Inhabitants of Utopia are still fending off the attack of Selene's zombie cyborg mutants, C...
