Serious Disconnect
Don't be fooled by the John Romita cover, the art inside this comic is even more cartoony than ever (yes, a step down even from Julia Bax's last issue). This thime the art is by Craig Rousseau, and resembles animation stills from a Saturday morning cartoon show more than anything.
On it's own, that would be irksome enough, but this issue is supposed to be very dark, Silence of the Lambs like even, with a mutant killer keeping a number of people tied by steel cables in their own filth in a poisonous mine shaft. Prisoners who he berates and feeds garbage at least one of whom dies of neglect.
So the cutesy cartoon nature is even more of serious disconnect in this issue than it normally is in a given issue of X-Men.
What were they thinking?
