    Wolverine, Banshee and Jean are re-captured by the Sentinels after they failed escape attempt from Lang's orbital platform. With the help of Starcore's Dr. Corbeau, their teammates mount a rescue effort via a space shuttle. Meanwhile, in Ireland, Banshee's lawyer attempts to warn him about his villainous cousin, Black Tom. As the Starcore shuttle approaches Lang's platform it's assaulted by Sentinels causing explosive decompression that threatens to suffocate Colossus, so Corbeau rams the shuttle into the platform. Fighting their way through the Sentinels to their teammates, Cyclops stops Lang from killing Jean and Xavier then savagely beats him before he is knocked unconscious by a blast from behind. The rest of the X-Men arrive only to be confronted by what appears to be their predecessors whom Xavier orders to attack.

    X-Men #99 continues the Sentinel threat with a lead-in that just had to happen for the upcoming #100. Fun cameos continue, this issue with a news report by Roger Mudd and Geraldo Rivera. Back in Ireland, Claremont plants a seed for a future sub-plot, because we can never have too many of those (at least not yet). For now, the balance is still perfect, and the X-Men is well on its way to becoming the #1 comic in the world....
