Vampires, mutants, oh my! Pt. 2

The thrilling second installment of Marvel's X-men: Curse of the Mutants. With Jubilee infected by the newly discovered vampire virus, Colossus and Wolverine on the hunt for fresh vampires in hopes of finding a cure, and tensions between vampires and mutants rising, this arc is turning out to be quite the powerhouse of suspense.

Opening with a fight scene between Wolverine, Colossus, and a flying vampire, in the daytime! The twosome desperately try to capture the flying monster in hopes of bringing Doctor Nemesis a living specimen. Jubilee back on Utopia are feeling the effects of the virus more an more each day, driving her crazy. Dr. Nemesis and Dr. Rao try desperately to eas her pain but are finding it rather difficult. Wolverine and Colossus track down the vampire to it's hideout, only to discover more bloodsuckers. The tables start to turn until Blade, world renown vampire hunter shows up, and lends them a helping hand. He bags and tags them a live one, and they head back to Utopia. Once there, they ask Blade why Dracula decides now to wage war on mutant kind. Blade answers that Dracula's dead, and that it's his son that is waging war. He explains that Xarus has united all the clans, something Dracula could never accomplish, and is now trying to conquer the planet. Also, that his plans dealing with the mutants is to turn them, creating an army of super vampires. Dr. Nemesis then discovers that the amulet that the vampires wear is whats protecting them from the sun, and somehow their technology has greatly improved. Cyclops answers that there may be only one person who can stop them, Dracula. The others are flaberghasted that he would even think of such a thing, but he states it's better the devil you know. While Jubille nocks Dr. Rao unconscience, running to Xarus, who then bites her, making her a vampire.

4.5 at the least. The story was real good, and having a guest spot by Blade who I havn't heard anything about in like forever was a nice touch. Now this cover shows you exactly what you need to know, Wolverine and Blade nuff said. So, if you enjo vampires, Blade, or any of the above, go read this issue, and as always, nice readings and enjoy.

Mutants vs. Vampires? All Right. 0

To be clear, I was dreading this story when it was first announced. The idea of going from Second Coming to a mutants vs. vampires story sounded terrible, especially with Necrosha in recent memory. But back then, I was also under the impression that this story would be much bigger than a self-contained arc in the new X-Men ongoing series. It turns out Curse of the Mutants is much better than I was expecting.  If the cover doesn't make it obvious enough, Blade joins the fray this issue. He acts t...

      X-Men v3 Issue 2 0

Well, after a great start, I think that this book has already slipped to the bottom of my stack concerning X-Books. It's not that this is bad, because it's not. It's just not all it should be, it's not enough of a flagship (With the name X-Men it should be one of the best books out there), and it's boring. I love the art, I like the way the team is portraying the vampire threat, but with the high caliber X-Books out there, this just doesn't do it for me. But hey, I'm picky. Maybe predictability ...
