    quick review

    Preface:

This is THE first X-men comic ive read in my life. So i was excited to see what all the buzz was about.

    Quick Review (no spoilers):

So i have to say that i really enjoyed this issue. the word that comes to mind was "fun". It was, however, very wordy but i guess that is to be expected being written by Chris Claremont. The art is incredible thanks to Jim Lee and you can definitely see how this is one of his acclaimed works. The story revolves round none other than Magneto and he was my favorite part of it all. I gotta say i am a fan of Magneto after this issue. i sympathized with him and admired him. Chris did a great job of making me feel for the antagonist while questioning the protagonist and then at the end making me feel for the protagonist again. overall this is a very good story and the reason it isn't getting a 5/5 is because it is very wordy and it didnt excite me like, for example, the first issue of bloodshot did. it didn't blow me away but it did leave a lasting impression on me, that will likely lead to me spending more time on the X-Men boards.

    The Verdict:

    X-MEN issue 1 gets a 3..........out of 5

Many of the books from this decade did not age well, but this one doesn't fare too badly. The story concerns the classic X-men/Magneto rivalry, with the interesting twist of a new team of evil allies for Magne...

I recently picked up the 20th Anniversary edition of this seminal issue for a few reasons. First of all, I thought it was great timing what with Uncanny X-Men Vol 2 #1 coming out as a great point of comparison. Second, as someone who has always really been into the X-Men, I thought it would be neat - especially since I've been so steeped in it recently - collecting trade paperbacks and whatnot. Third, these are the X-Men I knew from the 1994 cartoon.Just like Uncanny Vol 2 #1, this issue spends ...
