When Cable reformed the New Mutants, he made them his soldiers. They became a mutant "black ops" team, assigned to kill not just the enemies of the X-Men, but of all mutantkind. Although this team eventually disbanded, the X-Force moniker has persisted in successive iterations of more and more aggressive X-teams.
It's true, sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words- especially when you put it in the context of the current storyline. Case in point, a leaked image of Uncanny X-Force #12 reveals a kiss being shared by X-Force teammates Psylocke and Fantomex. Don't get me wrong, any make-out session that graces a cover of a comic will always make me want to pick it up- but this image is particularly jaw dropping. I am in no way exaggerating, either- when I first saw the image my jaw literally dropped. If you have been reading Rick Remender's run on X-Force, then chances are you may have picked up on Fantomex's attraction (be it physical or otherwise) to Psylocke.
Even if you have not, it is certainly something you might want to go back and look for in the last six issues of the series because it is so well done. Remender subtly lays the groundwork for a (adulterous?) relationship to blossom- and even if it only happens in Fantomex's imagination, there's a good chance Psy could find out about it. With Psylocke being responsible for taming Warren's dark side, a kiss like this could be the end of the team. How patient will Psylocke continue to be with Warren's ( Archangel) multiple personality disorder (can I call it that?)?
What do you think of the cover to issue #12 of Uncanny X-Force, and is it something you want to see? Do you think a kiss shared between these two could tear the team apart? What are the possible consequences?
I actually kind of like the idea of them together. But I also have to point out that cover art has a tendency of being horribly misleading and sometimes not even occurring within the pages of the comic.
First of all.. Psylocke could do soooo much better than Fantomex!! And secondly... Psylocke could do soooo much better than Archangel!! Since when was it her responsibilty to take care of this bipolar wealthy brat!?!?! Ever since Psylocke returned to the X-Men, there was no actual connection made between Angel and Psylocke's love relationship!!! I mean during Secret Invasion... Angel had a brief dialogue with Husk (another former lover) and that was it!! The only time Psylocke and Angel ever spoke prior before Uncanny X-Force was in the short lived team X-Club. Then, all of a sudden Angel and Psylocke join X-Force and become romantic just like that again!!! Too fast... way too fast!!!
Wow. Considering Psylocke's current feelings about Fantomex' trigger happy antics this is a bit of a curveball. Even if it is in his mind or an illusion, I can't see Betsy being too understanding.

@papad1992: Logic in X-men relationships?! We don't need any frakin' logic!!! All we need is nostalgia, sweet nostalgia and safety of knowing Gambit/Rogue & Warren/Betsy!!! Having people logically move on to other relationships with more compatible people?! What will you ask for next...consistently excellent writing?! Sham on you :P

I would prefer that too, I adore both Betsy and Emma, and the... minor animosity they hold towards each other, would create a much better and authentic tension between the two than Psy and the Vincent Cassel wannabe! Its great too, since Psylocke use to be a stunning modelesque, type gal, who wanted to be a powerful warrior and Emma was the mousy and shy girl who wanted to be modelesque and powerful! Both those characters are now those things. Hell this story line practically writes itself! Oh, and both have made Cyclops legs turn to jelly in the past! This is the fanon-ship that keeps on sailing!

That cover might be the sexiest they've come out with since the X-Force cover where Wolverine is behind Domino and his claws are cutting into her clothing. That was one of the first covers where I thought "This is straight-up SEXY. It isn't sophomoric, or childish, or pandering, this is sexy on an adult level." And this cover does the same, so well done, Marvel!
