"...before we pass out the Kool-Aid."

Second Coming returns to X-Force for chapter 9 of 14.  The X-Men are literally stuck in a situation where sacrifices aren't feared, they're more than likely a reality.  With Bastion's forces coming through a portal, someone is bound to get hurt.  Scott has a plan that involves X-Force, but this plan will likely end them.

    What You Need To Know.

Mutant Utopia is enclosed in a giant red sphere thing.  Nightcrawler is dead, but not the only casualty.  Hope is determined to see the end of this, even if she wasn't prepared to be here.  Henry McCoy is back, only because he feels it is part of his oath, he still isn't a fan of Scott's decisions.   Bastion is poised to kill every mutant in the world.

    The Good.

The first 10 pages, almost literally half of the book contains no dialogue.  Instead the writers let Mike Choi draw some incredibly phenominal  pages depicting the battle on the bridge, in my opinion.  Whether you liked or disliked the art, you have to admit that giving an artist half of a major chapter in an event is risky but also a vote of confidence in his ability to portray the story.
With that being said, when the writing does pick up and the end of page 10 it's exactly what you'd expect out of Craig Kyle and Chris Yost, a strong chapter that is some of their best work that I've read.
There's a scene involving some key players of the X-Men and their interactions with each other are hard to see, but in a good way.  There are so many varieties of emotions going on with each character, I don't think I would have trusted this with any other creative team than the one in this issue.
    Cable and Hope.
The last few pages show that Scott's decision making process isn't easy on him, but also that he knows what he has to do in order to keep this race alive.

    The Bad.

It has nothing to do with how he's written, I understand that this is how the character is now, but Beast is really getting on my nerves.  I understand he's upset with Scott about having sanctioned X-Force, but he really needs to get off his high horse.

    The Verdict.

I enjoyed this issue a lot.  I think it took some risk trusting an artist with 10 pages of straight art, no dialogue.  It shows that not all comics need to be drenched with dialogue, granted some dialogue is needed, but it was a pleasantry in this series.  The action was well paced, the emotional parts made sense, and once again this series offers straight continuity from the previous issue.  It's chapter 9 of 14, so if you're new to the event, you need to catch up with the back issues.  Great art, Great writing. I enjoyed it and I can't wait till chapter 10 if you're following this, you should have it.

Cover: The cover looks very nice. It has nothing to do with the story but, the art is beautiful. Story: The story starts out on the Golden Gate Bridge. The X-men are trying to destroy the sphere that is in the middle of the bridge but, it is unbreakable. People are getting hurt. Namor went near the sphere and if it was anyone else they would of died in seconds. Scott says they have to go to the future and the only way is to use Cables device and Scott will send Cable and the X-force team to go t...

Xforce once again best second coming book 0

So far in the second coming rac the real major big hitting issues in terms of actual arc plot easily fall into the last two xforce books. Twenty six "the previous issue" had the very well handled and widely predicted death of Nightcrawler and this issue once more kicks the fighting up another notch and brings some real tension and emotion to the second coming arc.  The Good Once again the xforce team combine both steller visual work with excellant writing , this issue even has a prelonged sectio...
