    Calculating Counter-Measures

    F$%&!

I should have known what I was getting myself into reading a Kyle & Yost book, these guys are on the way out and they're taking everyone down with them.

    F$%&!

So for those of you who picked up this issue and were wondering what the heck just happened, let me fill you in, this is part five of Second Coming, a big crossover in the style of Messiah CompleX. If you don't know what's going on from that, go search for the crossover and start from chapter one, we'll wait. But I think the other thing people might not be realizing is that this story has been building since 2006, when Kyle & Yost jumped onto New X-Men and Forge created a "good" Nimrod, who eventually became Bastion. Bastion then brought back a cabal of formerly dead X-Villains in the pages of X-Force and now the Mutant Messiah and Bastion are finally coming to a head.

So the X-Men's systems are down, Bastion is tracking every X-Men in search of Hope and to be honest, the Mighty Mutants are screwed if this issue is any indication. The story picks up with the New Mutants team flying back to Utopia with a very injured Karma, then communications go down, not just with the NM, but with everyone. Cyclops quickly realizes that the X-Men are under a multi-pronged attack.

We watch Cable, Psylocke, Wolverine and X-23 fight off members of The Right as they try to make their way back to Utopia.

Then comes the heartbreaking part of the issue, Nightcrawler, Hope and Rogue are making their way back to Utopia. They've made it to Las Vegas and Nightcrawler is losing the strength to keep going. Then Bastion shows up.

Now, my rant about spoilers, I was not trying to learn who died in this issue before hand, I wasn't even looking for hints, I was going about my business last night and "Death of [Spoiler]" was blasted across my screen on Yahoo. There was no way around it, later Babs was nice enough to tell me it played out beautifully and it no question did. But heck, I would have loved to have found that out myself.
It's a Kyle and Yost issue, so it had to rock. Mike Choi was on art, so it had to look stunning and it changes the course of the story, which is great. Pick this up if you're interested or just reading Second Coming.

Oh and Marvel, if you undo this death anytime soon, maybe ever, you'll ruin what the death meant and all of it's weight. Please don't ruin this for me and all the other fans.

So this is the big death issue!  I will do my best to not spoil it for anyone, but I will say this:  it's a great scene. This book has some awesome art and inking.  It's probably the best that we've seen so far in Second Coming.  The colors pop off the page in places, and the characters are drawn amazingly.Picking up from part 04, the X teams are spread out trying to get Hope back to Utopia.  The book starts with Bastion saying it's time for him to go out and fight.  Wolverine's team and Cable a...

Second Coming comes to X-Force.  In the effort to get Hope to Utopia, one will fall ensuring her safety.    What You Need to Know. Hope and Cable are back.  Bastion is the big Baddie (as of now).  A member of the team is in critical condition and another has already died, not to mention Illyana, who has been transported somewhere the X-Men don't know.  Scott and Emma are directing the team.  Cerebra is out, but the enemy has it's own version.  The team splits up to bring Hope to Utopia.  The Goo...
