    X-Factor United...again

    X-Factor #206

    Second Coming Revelations

I have to say that Peter David is the master at writing multiple story plots within the same title.   Time and again the team is separated into groups and has their own individual tasks then get brought back together in seamless ways.   We don’t seem to ever have the issue of his characters being 15 different places in the Marvel Universe at once…except Madrox, but at least that is easily explainable.

I continue to be amazed with this book and the characters that he has brought together to form this team.   There were no problems working Longshot, Darwin, or Shatterstar into the fold, and they even brought Syren…er…Banshee back into the story.   He tackles difficult issues and has avoided being a major player in crossovers for the most part, and when the book is involved in a cross over he makes it work in a sensible way.

The art in this book is actually growing on me.   I don’t like the new style of Strong Guy still.   Aside from that I need to peek back and actually see if the art has just generally been improving.

This tie in to the Second Coming basically brings the team back together to prepare for Bastion’s incoming final assault that is predictably inevitable for the next issue.   M basically sells her soul to the devil, and we get a tiny bit of a glimpse at some reconciliation between Banshee and Madrox.   The amazing thing is how powered up Layla miller is with her doom tech.   Now I can’t wait to see how Madrox ends up married to her.   That may take years, but David definitely has my attention.

I hope that Second coming has brought in some new readers into the book, because it is honestly the most underappreciated X-title on the racks.   I have failed to be disappointed.

Will Mordo join the team for awhile?

      Review: X-Factor #206 0

X-Factor bands together for a final stand against Trask, his SWAT-team style flunkies and their outlandish tanks.  The Good David gives all of these characters distinct voices and I was always entertained to see how they were bantering with eachother. I especially liked Multiple Man's role as an unsure, possibly ill-suited hero and M's cold, rational acceptance of an alliance with Mordo, even though the man just drained her like a vampire (as she says.) I also...
