    Origin

    The X-44 was an experimental rocket powered plane created by the United States Air Force. It was piloted on it's maiden voyage by Allen Adam who is also known as Captain Atom. During it's first flight it exploded. It was quickly discovered that Gerald Mudge an electronics specialist, was the saboteur. Captain Atom survived the explosion, rescued the the X-44 and captured Gerald.

    Gerald Mudge was created by Joe Gill and Steve Ditko.
