I see her taking a break maybe meet up with her friends from Nyx, because being strictly an assassin seems like a step back BUT maybe wolverine will have her talk with Idie/Oya eh I want to see her spend maybe 2-3 issues with wolverine's  new team and then leave

Though she would fit in with wolverine's new team since they will be a little relaxed on the kill if you must mentality and she might fit in more than prior and help her find a middle ground

I have no idea where it could lead.  X-23's story arc going on right now has her in New York and working with the FF, but also having allusions to the NYX kids being involved soon.  Perhaps she'll throw back in with them and the series will continue with Laura having her own little team to lead.

I really don't know, but wherever it goes I shall read.  X-23 is a series I feel needs to be supported, and I absolutely love the character.

I agree completely, i think the best part for me is that i don't where her character is going but i trust that  Liu knows what she is doing for the character and that works for me.

Could not have said it better :)
 X-23 is prolly my favorite ongoing right now :) its been great.

as for where its going...for me these things need to happen.

Gambit goes away
More Jubilee team up
Kimura returns
X-23 finds or runs into her cousin Megan
Some kinda Hellion team up

@Pacperson:
And what's great is that ALL these story-lines have already been hinted at in some form at some point in the series.  It's almost as if Liu is testing the waters to see what the audience would like seeing in the future.  Hopefully the series gets to go long enough that all of them get to be told.

with the unknowing, but as it seems, branching out into the Marvel Universe, which is were I want to see here. I loved her interactions with everyone in
Marvel Team-Up. it kept things fresh for her.

Well, I know that Hellion is popping up in issue #17 as her love interest, so I assume she's probably going to choose being a regular teenager...I hope :o)

@EnSabahNurX: I'm hoping that she has some interaction with Idie too.

that cover caught me by surprise and my knee-jerk reaction was that X-23 just jumped the shark
but then I remembered Marjorie Liu was writing her stories, and I had a happy sigh of relief.

my guess is that X-23 will have a chance to redeem something from her past with the Captain Universe powers.
Hopefully, there should be an epic space battle there (with the FF involved).
Then she'll have a character breakthrough which will make her an even more interesting character to read about.

Looking forward to this interesting turn of events.

I only started reading X-23 because i heard Storm got some nice panel time in The Killing Dream but then i though it wouldn't hurt to get #4 and i was quite intrigued, Laura's a spectacular character with a captivating back-story/ground and i love characters with that, i really feel for her and i would love to see were her soul finding quest takes her, leading her own team would be a great thing for her.

I'm intrigued on how the Hellion thing would go.... I bet its not gonna be they way we want it to be. Either Julian going to the dark side.

Hellion/X-23 action all the way!

I agree. Marjorie Liu is doing a wonderful job with the series. Laura is one the reasons why I got back into X-men.

I find it really hard to believe that Logan would ask her to become an assassin again, considering how hard she's trying to distance herself from that life. I've really enjoyed watching her become self-aware, and it would be so regressive for to become a killing machine again. Also, this is the only book where Gambit is written correctly.

He's not, he's only asking her to come back with the X-Men after it's Schism and join his team.

That is an awesome freaking cover.

#22 Posted by KDarkholme (337 posts) - - Show Bio

That picture is amazing. Are the FF asking her to join? The picture looks like she is going to get some other type of abilities.
#23 Posted by rokusan23 (146 posts) - - Show Bio

With the Cosmic power... can she give back Julian's hands? :D *totally optimistic*

@KDarkholme: Yup they are asking her to join, so's Wolverine and I'm hoping she says no to the FF, and me thinks that the covers just misleading as a lot of covers/teasers from Marvel have been lately but it would be nice if she got some sort of change.

@rokusan23
I'd be happy to see that!
#27 Posted by k2 (473 posts) - - Show Bio

I don't want her to get more or different powers. She's great the way she is. If she had to gain an ability on a permanent basis, I would prefer it was something melee based.

#28 Posted by DEGRAAF (7811 posts) - - Show Bio

why is she dressed like captain universe

#29 Posted by Kairan1979 (15749 posts) - - Show Bio
@DEGRAAF
X-23 was one of the heroes who had the powers of Captain Universe.
#30 Posted by DEGRAAF (7811 posts) - - Show Bio
@Kairan1979
when did she get the powers of captain universe? Also i dont know anything about Captain universe but im guessing she doesnt have those powers now? I havent been following her either

@Kairan1979
thanks. From reading the teaser of that issue, the uni-power sounds like a symbiote more than a cosmic power
#33 Posted by dangerapple (37 posts) - - Show Bio
@DEGRAAF: imagine if x had the venom symbiote that spells out huge awesomeness
#34 Posted by DEGRAAF (7811 posts) - - Show Bio
@dangerapple
yea that would be a cool 3 issue arc.

Hmm. I'm not sure I see it. X-Force felt like a big regression. Like she was more prop than character and going in the wrong direction. Liu seems to be developing the character along the expected arc. What specifically do you dislike about it?

edit: Please understand that I'm not calling you out or something, I'm just curious about your perspective.

I know that ^___^

I hated how she demonised Cyclops for one thing, basically doing a Geoff Johns; ridding a protagonist of choice or responsibility by saying that their mistakes were all someone else's fault. That always irritates me.

I can see that. Honestly though, teenage hero rebels against authority/father figure, perhaps unfairly? That's pretty typical story fodder, IMO. Especially when she's flailing about for a new role model between Scott, Logan, and Remy.

This alredy happend before, infact X-23 was the first mutant ever to be a cap uni recipient.

This might be my blatant bias for her talking here, but does anyone else think that she might be an integral part of Marvel U?
#46 Posted by saturnssailor (102 posts) - - Show Bio
@daak1212: I am totally biased, but I definitely think she is.

Okay, stepping back and looking at it from a logical basis.

She's done a lot of important things and fought a lot of important people, Wolverine definitely cares about her. So does Gambit. Storm and Cyclops care about her a little. She has been a part of X-Force and New X-Men. So I suppose it depends on how you define integral. They could kill her, but that doesn't really mean anything because they killed the Human Torch and Nightcrawler. She isn't as integral as Emma Frost, Cyclops, Wolverine, etc. but she is more integral than Hellion, Elixir, Carmilla Black, etc. She also seems to be getting more important as time goes on.
#47 Posted by AgeofHurricane (7201 posts) - - Show Bio
@saturnssailor: Storm cares about her a lot.
@daak1212: This cover's most probably misleading.

Into obscurity.

#50 Posted by Chevaliere (983 posts) - - Show Bio

Pretty picture, but I don't think I would care much if they made Laura a cosmic being. I'd still probably read her, but I'd definitely prefer her infinitely more as just the Claw-having, emotionally scarred, healing (close to?) street-leveler hat we know and love.
