X-23
Character » X-23 appears in 2383 issues.
X-23 is a product of the Weapon X program, born from a damaged sample of Wolverine's DNA. She has recently aged up, being saved from the Vault.
new cover!
I took a notice in her while reading the X-men Second coming event. I don't know much about her, but I like her, so I'll probably pick it up.
Still hate her name though... I always thought X-23 was a temp name till they picked something better... still waiting though.
" maybe i missed somthing when did she become the goth/emo heroine? i like the character and may pick this up "She became goth when she met her cousin, Megan Kinney. Read the X-23: Target X series. Many artists don't seem to utilize this to its full potential...or I guess it just doesn't show when she's in uniform all the time. But she's always a bit edgy, and it's because of her cousin. PS love the cover =)
" Still hate her name though... I always thought X-23 was a temp name till they picked something better... still waiting though. "i know! I liked Talon! whatever happened to Talon?
Too cutesy-smiley. She may be a 'goth', but she's never worn anything as emo as a stripey top before. I really hope that wont be the regular internal artist.
" @Thunderscream: Exactly! And while I enjoy Kim Possible & other fun characters like her, that just isn't X-23. Hardly an iconic image to represent her character... in other words, disappointing to be the cover to issue 1 of her first ongoing series. "Well they'll probably have multiple covers, so I don't think you'll have to worry :P
In my opinion, I actually like it. Sure it's more "cute," but the art looks really great and so does X-23. Does anyone know who actually did that cover by chance?
"Well they'll probably have multiple covers, so I don't think you'll have to worry :P "No, really? I would never have guessed that they'd stoop to selling variant covers for the first issue of a new title featuring one of the most popular characters of the moment... >.>
" @War Killer said:x-k's snappy words hurt so good"Well they'll probably have multiple covers, so I don't think you'll have to worry :P "No, really? I would never have guessed that they'd stoop to selling variant covers for the first issue of a new title featuring one of the most popular characters of the moment... >.> "
According to September's solicitations there will be a Women of Marvel Variant by Jelena-Kevin Djurdjevic, and two regular variants by Marko Djurdjevic and Gabrielle Dell'Otto (the X-Force: Sex & Violence artist). It seems the main cover is by Danni Shinya Luo.
X23 looks good as a goth, the look suits her. And there aren't really much 'goth styled' characters in the X-Men, not since Negasonic Teenage Warhead died.
I'm a X-23 fanatic. I stress on this series because I identify so closely with Laura, to a point where even I worry if it's gone too far. I was looking at this pic and thinking, NOOO! she's not supposed to smile that readily. When she extends her claws it's usually with a cold clinical professionalism. Here, she looks to cartoony, like Kimpossible *ugh*.
I read Will Conrad will be the penciler, he's capable of the more serious, morose, troubled artwork I think X-23 fans crave. I mean, c'mon, X fans love the fact she was abused, damaged, and stunted socially by the Facility, wandered and turned tricks as a prostitute, cuts herself because she can't relate to the real world, had no real nurturing as a child, and thus has become a cold, all-business, shunned, questioned, member of X-Force.
I still would like to see Mike Choi chosen for penciler, he captures the inner angst she must feel like nobodies business, but hopefully Conrad (if we must) will drop the Kimpossible, *Ugh*, happy teen s**t and keep it down, dark, and mentally edgy, -and not like the too sketchy One Shot.
I know I'm kinda upfront with this, but this is Laura Kinney
