X-23 is my favorite female character, full stop. I got into her through X-Force and now her ongoing series. In the last few months I was reading up on her, and saw her first comics appearance was NYX #3. It struck me that I recognized the cover. Not just to that issue but most of them. Then yesterday I remembered from where!
It was from a second hand book store that had many a shelf of unorganized single issues. I had been there less than a year ago and seen the entire 6 issues of NYx and was tempted to buy at the time for the art.
So I rushed in this morning, hoping the issues (especially 3) were still there. The store had changed slightly, There were a lot less issues in general there. I flicked though them all. No NYX....
A guy who worked there came over, 'Looking for something in particular?' I told him I was looking for Nyx issues. He said he kind of remembered those. He had thrown out a bunch of issues at random and said he was 80% sure that all those Nyx ones were part of em, after I'd described the covers.
Heartbroken, so close. I mean, someone else didn't even get it. It was thrown out!!! Laura's first appearance! Sigh.....
X-23
Character » X-23 appears in 2383 issues.
X-23 is a product of the Weapon X program, born from a damaged sample of Wolverine's DNA. She has recently aged up, being saved from the Vault.
A Sad story
Her first appearance was actually in the X-Men Evolution TV series. And I don't think her character was really well defined in the comics until her series Innocence Lost and Target X.
I know what you mean. It drives me nuts when the book shops dobn't have trades in so I have to resort to using Amazon.
Well, I gave it away before NYX had even finished. I wasn't enjoying the story & the giant hype surrounding the first comic appearance of the character from X-Men: Evolution was hugely disappointing. So I gave them away to a girl who I thought would appreciate them. I don't even see her any more... so I hope she knows what she's got & takes care of it :(

@xerox-kitty: I caved! I just bought the issue on ebay. Just out of curiosity, what's the most you yourself would pay for it? (£'s)
I'm a cheapskate & still kick myself for missing the whole series for £9. If you don't mind me asking... how much did you pay?
