X-23
Character » X-23 appears in 2382 issues.
X-23 is a product of the Weapon X program, born from a damaged sample of Wolverine's DNA. She has recently aged up, being saved from the Vault.
X-23 will get her own Mini in March!
" Yea, I saw that. Looks good."I wasn't sure if it was a reprint of NYX with a new cover at first. The style is very similar:
March may be the last official month of Necrosha, but it's already shaping up to be an expensive month...

It's a new cover.
It's funny. CBR had this scoop, but they've mis-spelt the Artist's name. They've out ' Alina Ursov', so if you google it, you only find people talking about the CBR article. Her name is Alina Urusov... with an extra U.
The Jubilee fans should be pleased:
Perhaps this is when she's taken to Utopia?Marjorie Liu said:
"As for the plot, it's rather simple: Laura and Logan come to New York to help an old friend of his (Jubilee, as a matter of fact), and Laura picks up Kiden's scent. She follows it, finds them - and someone else finds her. Someone very powerful, who wants to control her life. Something, unfortunately, that she's all too familiar with."
Can't wait but if Jubes is in it, they better not drag her to her 90's persona. She grew as Wondra and with NW disbanded, I hope she shows a bit of edge coming back to the X-Men
Well. I'm excited. I'm glad they're bringing Kiden into the X-Men Universe. I always wanted to see what happened to her and what sort of effect she had on X-23. I know they establish them as pretty good friends in X-Force, but you never really saw that in NYX. Might have something to do with X-23 never talking...
I'm not sure how I feel about this, but it's a one-shot, not a mini-series, which means I'll probably pick it up after all. I didn't like No Way Home, and I haven't read Dark Wolverine, so I'm not sure how I feel about this being written by Marjorie Liu instead of someone like Yost, or Carey, who have been consistently doing great things with characters' development in the X-titles.
I never thought I'll say this, but Yost actually completely lost his sh1t. The way he keeps Laura in the background and is completely destroying her relationship with Wolverine--- Not to mention that he and Kyle totally forgot about their own plots like Laura having a relationship with Hellion or other new X-Men... The last ark, Not Forgotten, was maybe not bad and awesome drawn, but it was uncool - nothing happened, nothing between her and Kimura (yeah yeah cut-off arm, I expected a dialog and not that crap). X had no memories and feelings about this horrible place (the facility) and so on... It's like they were writing in their sleep. So new writer - good, at least maybe she will FINALLY give the fans some closure....... and not the "creepy-girl-standing-behind-wolverine" act.
" @John Valentine: Eh... I have only one question for you: Did you actually read X-Force?)) Have any pics showing Hellion and Laura even in the same room or something?) You're a funny guy "
During the X-Force run, Elixir has only been shown with Loa once. While he was in a coma. That doesn't diminsh the hope of the Elixir/Loa fans.
Laura's feelings for Julian spurred her on to complete her mission during Messiah War. The fact that she didn't scream like an adolescent and make a mad dash to save him upon their return to the present doesn't mean she's stopped caring for him. You have to remember, she is not an ordinary kid; she's a trained weapon. She doesn't handle emotions like regular kids (which was why she kept following him around in New X-Men instead of kissing him in front of everyone like Nori did). She knew that she had to work as part of a team, trusting the others to save Julian & Nori.
The following story line (Not Forgotten) was pretty much focussed on Laura, with the other members as sub-plots building up to Necrosha.
Considering X-Force is a team book, a LOT of time is spent on X-23. Most likely because it's written by her two creators. So the claim that Yost has lost the plot & kept her in the background is unfounded. There is a lot of plot surrounding X, her relationship with Wolverine, how Cyclops interferes with Wolverine's efforts to humanise her, and setting up plot-lines for future.
And I'm surprised at the accusation that nothing happened between X-23 & Kimura, considering Kimura cut her arm off with a hedge-trimmer. It ended with the promise to kill all the people X-23 loves, which just screams future story. If you think about how long it has taken for Kyle & Yost to lay down the foundations for Necrosha, it's unlikely that they'd write something like that without plans for the future. Remember that Kyle & Yost don't write short-term stories. So it'll all work out in time...
I am super excited about this. I guess I can finally say that Marjorie told me about this last year. I've been waiting on the edge of my seat for an announcement. Now we just have to wait until March.
" I am super excited about this. I guess I can finally say that Marjorie told me about this last year. I've been waiting on the edge of my seat for an announcement. Now we just have to wait until March. "You knew & didn't tell us?! How much did she bribe you??
Can you tell us anything else about it??
This was before the recent NYX. I'm a man that can be trusted. I will be interviewing her again before this book comes out. Even though I'm dying to talk about the X-23 book now, I figure we'll push it closer to the release of the book. So if anyone has questions they want asked, send me a pm and we'll see.
" didn't she have like two or three minis already? "She's had Innocence Lost, Target X and NYX (to some extent). Plus all of the directly X-related stuff which has centred on her.
" I feel like this will get slept on and Laura will get swept under the rug, "Not a chance as long as Kyle and Yost are on any X-title.

And no, I kinda dont expect her to die, her being my favorite character.
"@xerox-kitty: I know what Laura's like, I'm a huge fan, too. I'm simply thinking that it's insane to say that their relationship was "central" in this arc. Hellion was in the comics, Laura worried about him, he worried about her, he never said Cyclops to go screw himself and never went after Laura (like he would do in new X-Men), so for me it's not NEARLY enough, If it's enought for someone you should be lucky "
She's a VERY popular character, and I'm a big X-23 fan... but I'm not obsessive or irrational about it.
Aside from the fact that she's already featured in 2 NYX series, 2 of her own mini series, with the one-shot in March, there are rumours of another mini series in future. Currently X-23 is in 2 current X-Titles. Not to mention that there are more storylines being set up for her than any of the other characters in X-Force. She has more exposure than the majority of X-Men at the moment. Granted, her appearances in Uncanny have a lot to be desired, but that pretty much goes for all of the X-Men. However, with this much coverage at the moment, I'm baffled at the idea that she doesn't have enough exposure...
Not to mention, in the current world of Marvel comics; the more exposure a character has means the more they're going to suffer. By demanding more appearances, then you're pretty much asking Marvel to drag a favourite character through hell & back.
X-23 has been a prominant figure in many of Kyle & Yost's X-Force stories. It just seems that you're upset at the lack of Laura/Julian stories, but they aren't fan-fiction writers. They plan for the future. They're the ones who first introduced X to the Institute and had her silently following Hellion around like a lost puppy, and the chances are they knew what direction they wanted to take her 'relationship'. Just because you're not seeing something happen now, doesn't mean that it isn't being plotted.
But ultimately, she's appearing in team books as part of a team. Only decent writers can balance the share of spotlight between their characters. A prime example of bad writing on a team book is Uncanny, where it's all about Cyclops & Emma Frost with a little bit of Dazzler or Northstar thrown in every now & then. At least with X-23 in X-Force she has storylines dedicated to her... but the others in the team have to be seen too. That's what makes it X-Force & not an X-23 on-going series ;)
" @Korg: Omg, what does it have to do with the building she was held in, I was speaking about the whole facility, the whole place she spent her life in. It's not the building that makes the place, it's what's going on in in. "It obviously has something to do with the building, as they went out of their way to mention it was a different place. X-23 was thoroughly freaked out by Kimura, and being back in the Facility. Not sure what more you're asking for, really. She broke down crying after Kimura told her she was going to kill Hellion and Megan, which is a pretty huge display of emotion for Laura.

YES! YES!YES!finally another on shot series. march will take a while but the cover kicks ass. AND WHEN IS GONNA BE IN A GAME. MAYBE A X-MEN LEGENDS 3. SHE WAS IN THE X-MEN 2 GAME 4 GAME BOY ADV. YA KNOW WHAT... MAYBE THEY SHOULD MAKE NECROSHA A GAME. THAT BE KEWL..
I'm looking forwards to this. I accept the fact that it may suck, but chances are it will be a decent issue with proper characterization of X-23, since it is focusing on her (rather than just having her as a side character). As for Hellion and X-23, I hope this is developed on....even if Kyle & Yost are dropping the X-titles (as I have heard is happening) then hopefully another writer will pick up on it. The base is pretty much established; both characters were shown to care for eachother to some degree, so unless all previous work is ignored, someday it should be continued :-)
Bribery may or may not bring this day about faster.
I am interesting in following up on Kiden. I thought Laura's departure from NYX was so impromptu, with so many unanswered questions. This will be an interesting read.
Why do you hate X-23 so much?! seriously why are even commenting on a forum of a character you don't even like! what's the point!
I liked it. I think I got where it was coming from.
Noting it wasnt just X-23's book, but also Majorie
Liu's (whom i have to give props to out of hometown
pride) as part of the Women Of Marvel celebration
showcasing not only Marvels female characters,
but both the prolific and up and coming female
talent in the industry (this was much akin to Girl
Comics for anyone whose read it and wondering,
stylewise). Bonus as well that as part of that celebration
X-23 was one of the first to get her own book, while staring
in several other books that are currently ongoing as it is,
pretty good popularity id say, and affirmation that she will
continue to thrive. This wasnt the usual X-23 book whereas there
is alot of action, but im sure we wont see any lack of that with her
in X-Force anyways, not with Yost around, and for that matter with
Yost and Craig, her creative father becoming bigger in the X-Verse,
that we will see any shortage of her either. Back to this issue the
introspective into her mind was a nice change of pace, and well done
however this may come off being as it was done by a female, who could only
have a better relation to Laura than a male writer could logically, and it shows.
It helped to clarify where she is at in this moment in time, character wise, and
directly from her perspective so its solid as well. I also liked the art, especially the
bits refereed to as " crayonish " as they we're meant to highlight somewhat of a different
view from a different plane, one comprised mainly of sense and emotion, and the picture
it builds, versus the dull brown world that is given by our eyesight. I'm a big fan of that
eclectic approach, and maybe its just me. I dont think i would want to see this on a permanent
basis, but another mini would be good, more action based like Target X though. I could see Liu
writing again, we'll see though as it seems she has her hands pretty full, especially with Black Widow.
id suggest the read, especially for anyone looking for something that isnt par the course.
* couldnt part with the monster post. im sooo close dammit!
Honestly, I didn't like this issue.
First, the art was horrible in my opinion. Couldn't they have gotten better artists? Maybe the guy from NYX (1-4, not the guy that did 5-7), or Mike Choi (Target X, X-Force), Billy Tan (Innocence Lost), etc... basically almost anybody else.
Second, it didn't really do anything. I don't like the idea of this psychic stalker, for one. It's fine as a story, but it took away from the issue. I was hoping for it to tell the story between Target X and NYX (how she ended up with Zebra Daddy). And I was hoping that she'd invite them to join the X-Men - I've wanted the NYX gang to join for a long time now (and they hinted at it in No Way Home).
X-23's attitude seems off in this issue, too.
Yeah, I agree. My general feeling was not much was accomplished in the issue...it was more like a repeat of what's been told in X-23's story already. I agree with the attitude being off...it was cool for the story, but it didn't quite fit. After re-reading however, I realized that I overlooked one panel: the psychic stalker offers her love, and she says no. He says 'ah'. That opens up a few possibilities: either she is already in love with someone else; she does not want love at all; or she simply did not want his love. I'm going with she loves someone else already, based on his response. If that is correct, it would be the first time on panel that it is shown she is in love with anyone.
Still hold my other opinions, though.
@k2:
You're only saying that because you want more X-23/Hellion action (I've read your fanfictions after all).
