In Which 23 Makes New Friends At School (But Not Quite)

Now that's more like it. I was hoping there'd be a more character focused issue in this series soon, and this one was it. I'm really liking X-23. She's a disturbing character (disturbingly hilarious, sometimes, as is evident in the school scenes), but also a strangely likable one.

I'm not sure I like the way that it's accomplished though. The use of "trigger scent" (a scent that makes 23 go into uncontrollable kill mode) seems a bit lazy to me. It allows her to be a brutal and victimized character at the same time. While I do like the result, the mechanics behind it feel a little cheap. That's just a minor complaint though.

I'm interested to see how this story plays out. With the second issue, the jumping timeline is removed for the most part, and the story is much more coherent and focused. It wasn't particularly confusing in the first, but it was a little hard to jump right into. That problem isn't present here and the second issue benefits from the first's setup.

    Overall, an excellent addition.
