    Wonder Woman

Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8808 issues.

The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.

    Wonder Woman's name. Diana?

Wonder Woman is heavily influenced by the Greek pantheon, but her name is Diana, after the Roman goddess of the hunt. A more appropriate name for her would have been Artemis, the Greek equivalent of Diana. Was this a mistake that DC has been forced to run with ever since or what?

originally Diana/Wonder Woman in 1941 was created using the Roman Pantheon. It was changed to Greek in 1986 but they kept the name Diana

Well, the Roman and Greek Pantheons are essentially the same and were often considered the same exact Gods in DC for the longest time, so it's not really such a big deal.

I mean, they still call Hercules Hercules instead of the correct Heracles and it's no big deal.

also Diana is a much more "layman" name than Artemis...so maybe Marston thought it would connect better..... anyway its not a big deal... the greek and the roman pantheons are essentially the same.
