Wonder Woman's Costume

I thought this streamlined version of her in Flashpoint amazing. But I love her design in the New 52... I thought they were spot on with her.

#102 Posted by TheHulk (778 posts) - - Show Bio

So, if 80's reboot origin say she was human originally, how did she get powers?

#103 Posted by jointron33 (1902 posts) - - Show Bio

@TheHulk: ................she wasnt human originally......and she got her powers the same way as usual

The cartoon version is probably the best or very close. Whatever one its based off of. The Injustice version is ok.

If there's ever going to be a movie Wonder Woman... it means pants.

Why not the armored skirt? I dunno, the camousel top just doesn't work without her legs showing to me.

I really wish they gave Wonder Woman a whole new look in the New 52. More Greek Warrior less Superhero.....

@judasnixon: But she is a superhero.

I think this is my favorite WW's costume ever (minus the shoulder pad). The skirt is perfect, it's not really a skirt, but it's aslo not just a piece of cloth.

I like this, I can actually believe she is an amazon in this, not some bimbo running for Ms. America, while literally dressed up in the American flag.

It looks like a towel.

@watcherg6: Agreed! What's up with this exposed side boob business? No woman has even gone, you know what makes me feel comfortable expressing myself? side boob. Purely from an athletic/practicality stand point, give the lady some proper coverage support. I mean if we're going to be using the argument that her look is based of amazonian women then have mega breast implant sized breasts seem a bit rubbish because there are myths amazons used to remove their right breast so they could better use bows and throw spears. Now I'm not saying Wonder Woman shouldn't have curves but surely they are predominant enough she doesn't need them pouring out the side of her costume for you to know they are there.

Sexism rears its ugly head in superhero tales, such as the shameless sexploitation of Black Widow in too many of the posters advertising the live action Avengers film. However, skin-tight costumes and revealing costumes have been around since the genre's inception, dating back to a time when people associated skin-tight clothes and bare arms/legs with athleticism and freedom more than exploitation.

Personally, I think a more intriguing question is not why Wonder Woman has bare legs (like Robin & Sub-Mariner) and bare arms (like too many male heroes to count) and why Power Girl has that odd panel on her costume but why modern comic creators have become afraid of the more revealing male costumes over the years.

Excellent point!!!

At least give Wondy a couple of shoulder straps. She must have a heretofore unmentioned ability to fight in a tube top without having a wordrobe malfunction.

The New 52 is one is what they should use for a WW movie. I like the silver instead of gold.

The suit that respects classic WW but updates it nicely. It can easily be adapted to the big screen:

#129 Edited by jointron33 (1902 posts) - - Show Bio

Wwwwaaaaaahhhh why is she a flag??!!!

Zeus Damn it, don't you read her books???!!! READING IS FUNDAMENTAL......to comics. The whole reason she wears the initial costume is because she is returning Steve to AMERICA and thus will be the Themysciran ambassador in AMERICA. Jesus dying on the cross, it's stupid season.

I agree with some posts, that wonder woman costume should resembles more femininity from her. Wonder woman is a feminist character, her costume should be more feminine, with high heels, a skirt, makeup, accesories and fashion. I strongly dislikes any costumes that just hides her femininity: to put her in pants its just that to put her again in a man's role. Superman & Batman shows masculine attributes, why wonder woman arent able to show any feminine attribute? There is a lot of feminists here with double standars, that complains a lot when wonder woman shows any sexuality attribute, but i didnt hear a simple word of complain when male heroes shows their muscles and sex appeal in the comic books/tv seriesmovies. Whats the problem that wonder woman starts to behave/looks like a woman for the first time?

@razzatazz:

You're wrong in thinking that I "seem to want to argue". It only SEEMS that way to you. I am also not rude or "confrontational".

I am simply providing the facts that I came up with from my 10year research.

And I'm not arguing on "semantics" either. The term "costume" implies fake clothing, which her outfit is NOT. The term "outfit" implies that its her uniform, regular clothes.

I'm a nice guy, and I expect to be treated that way.....online or in person.

"Mind your envy" --William Moulton Marston, 1938.

#132 Posted by Danieles (124 posts) - - Show Bio

LOL, you're a guy Razza? and a feminist one? Comic Books serves as Ram for indoctrination of feminism into the western culture, specially in the geek's community. My apologize, i thinked that you were a woman. Anyway, i dont enjoy looking at wonder woman grinding men by bare hands and punching bags, just imagine Superman grinding women by bare hands, and how that will enrage feminists. For me , wonder woman is not so wonder, and , is not a woman, she is just Superman with breasts. Physical strenght are a male attribute, im only asking for wonder woman shows more feminine behavior, even a love interest; i realize that she grown up as an amazon warrior, but thats no excuse for to she always must be a butch female: she should learn more about feminine earth females, instead to pose as a cold, arrogant, pale, and despotic feminist.

#138 Edited by gokuwarrior (4368 posts) - - Show Bio

@danieles:her clasic costume is the costume she keeps using and many people like it,but there is nothing wrong with people having different oppinions, something that you should try to understand.

#139 Edited by Danieles (124 posts) - - Show Bio

@gokuwarrior: "there is nothing wrong with people having different oppinions, something that you should try to understand." as far as i8 knows, im the only one here that were asking for a much more feminine wonder woman, and i only received attacks since then: who are the ones , again, that doesnt likes different opinions?

#140 Edited by RazzaTazz (9478 posts) - - Show Bio

@danieles: That is ok I guess, you can have your opinion. I am happy to label myself as a feminist but not as a man (seeing as ... you know ... I am a woman.)

Has anyone seen this new design for the upcoming Justice League: War animated movie?

It's odd that they would change her costume up, especially since the movie is suppose to be based off of the "Origin" storyline from the current Justice League series.

I like the new design and feel they should tweak her New 52 look to something more like this or exactly this.

Its pretty good.

And don't be surprised. This isn't the first thing they are changing. They are replacing Aquaman with Shazam.

O_O

Really? When was this announced? I mean, I'm glad that Shazam is getting some spotlight, but it's a bit odd that they would switch things up like that. Makes you wonder if DC wishes they could change things up with the actual storyline, which is why they're changing it here.

It wasn't really announced, but its pretty much given due to the fact that Shazam has a voice actor announced for the movie but not Aquaman and the preview features them talking about how Johns wanted them to push the Hal/Bruce, Clark/Diana and Cyborg/Shazam dynamics.
