    Wonder Woman

Character » Wonder Woman appears in 8719 issues.

The Amazon princess, blessed with god-like super abilities, Wonder Woman is one of Earth's most powerful defenders of peace, justice, and equality and a member of the Justice League. She is considered an archetype for many heroines outside of comic book. Her initial origin depicted her as a clay baby brought to life by patron goddess Aphrodite, but in recent years she has been depicted as the daughter of Zeus and Amazon queen Hippolyta.

So I've read through the Wonder Woman board a lot in the past couple days just after reading Meredith's second issue and wondering how people felt about it and I can see that the general consensus is that people would like someone else on the book. So I was wondering if you had to pick a creative team who have never worked on a Wonder Woman-centric book or story to write and draw her definitive origin who would they be? And if you had to pick one part of her origin that had to be in there no matter what, what part would that be. And then what is something you'd like to see maybe changed or just made as part of her definitive origin.

I don't know that I have a preference for a specific writer/artist combo ... there are a lot out there that are great, but who knows how well they would do with Diana and her story. Suffice to say I'd just want a creative team that captured her voice and her look in an appropriate way ... I'm dodging this part of the answer, because even an excellent, seasoned writer may not be right for WW.

As to the origins part of your question:

    1. Amazon Princess/Daughter of Hippolyta ... I don't care if that's biological or clay to be honest, but she's not WW unless she's Hippolyta's daughter

    2. Left the Island with Steve Trevor as an emissary for the Amazons in some capacity (to fight off the influence of Ares in the world of man in some form seems the constant to me)

    3. Lasso/Bracelets/Tiara ... these are the only "must haves" IMO for Diana ... she can be wonder woman with a sword, but she isn't WW without the Lasso/Bracelets/Tiara

All the rest is less important to me.

I don't really know my writers well enough so it's hard for me too say who should write her. Needs to be someone who really understands her personality, and someone who can balance all the sides to the character. Not just a superhero, or not just a Greek hero, but both, and also a political ambassador as well a maybe throwing in some more mundane stuff. Also someone who's willing to use all her classic rouges, and can make them all seem awesome.

For artist I'd love to see Fiona Staples draw Wonder Woman.

As for her origin if I had to pick one thing that had to stay it would be her being created from clay.
