I have seen people lowball and belittle her on the forums. People always feel the need to throw bait without taking things into context. Maybe if people actually read her comics then they would know the real Wonder Woman and her capabilities,no? She is very well one of the most powerful females in comics and deserves more respect.

I hate her in Injustice. She was poison in Superman's ear. Otherwise she is just meh to me. It's funny to see her get belittled due to fan reaction but I have nothing against her.

I don't know anyone who doesn't like let alone hate wonder woman but as far as injustice goings deathstroke is the worst character he is easily the most unfare imo

Because they tend to look at her as Superman's slightly weaker female counterpart married with the stupid perception that flight, strength and speed is the only attributes that truly matter.

Because a female who is outside of the the female stereotype makes lots of people unconsciously uncomfortable. Especially a female who proudly stands in the "male territory" without giving a c**p about being there and about those who thinks that she is out of her place.

Thin (or not-so-thin) sexism lenses make her look somewhat odd... odd becomes wrong... wrong becomes "oh I hate that bad character so much!"

Because she's awesome, plain and simple.

I think it mainly has to do with how she's written. It's already hard to identify with an naive godly warrior princess, so she either comes off as a psychopath (like in Injustice) or some naive muscle that needs the world explained to her. I think her best writing actually came from the JL/U cartoon.

Then there's the issues of DC's inconsistent power levels. They never know where to place her in terms of strength with everyone else.

@opunaya: Batman knows 127 martial arts, Batman IS a sociopath and Batman is a billionaire, but plenty of people love him.

It's cause she's a woman, people are intimidated by her. The only time you like her is in a cartoon where he only major win was a Superman who didn't want to fight. She was beaten by everyone else who she stepped up to face in a one on one.

Diana's entire character in JL was Bruce's crush. You only reinforce what others say, you only like her when she's playing to stereotypes like the woman who needed her man to marry her.

She was Silver Age Lois Lane in JL, try reading Azzerello's WW.

I think they hate because their own expectations of the character are unattainable. People get wrapped up in what feat their favorite character will perform next to prove they are the most powerful, awesome character ever and when it doesn't happen they start screaming about it. WW stands out because she has been inconsistent over the years.

Her creator said on many occasions:

"Not even girls want to be girls so long as our feminine archetype lacks force, strength, and power. Not wanting to be girls, they don't want to be tender, submissive, peace-loving as good women are. Women's strong qualities have become despised because of their weakness. The obvious remedy is to create a feminine character with all the strength of Superman plus all the allure of a good and beautiful woman"

Unfortunately she hasn't always had writers who have lived up to that mission statement.

Wonder Woman is awesome, but her hardcore "fans" are quickly approaching (if not there all ready) Storm fan level of obnoxiousness on this forum if you ask me.

Case in point? People spend so much time bitching and arguing if she's being under or over sexualized. And by people I mean nerdy dudes who've can probably count the number of times they've had sex on their fingers (thus being experts on sexual topics).

I agree, Wonder Woman has so much unfulfilled potential. A lot of comic book readers know Wonder Woman merely from what they see in Justice League & novels so for as long as they have her swing her sword like a barbaric psychopath, is used as a human bait and a plot-device to help push Superman past the point of madness I reckon she won't make a lot of new fans

@archizoom: You and me both, every Elseworld story about the three of them always ends up in Superman gets led astray by Diana, Batman has to stop them.

She's badass no doubt. I don't see much hate for her in here. For example just because someone says she loses to Thor, that's just an opinion that can be reasonably argued, not really hate. If someone says she loses to Spiderman, ok that's hate. I never see her lose to anyone one other than a top tier hero/villian in here.

@thorverine: it's not the Battle boards, it's on the forums ... Lots of foaming-at-the-mouth pseudo-fans on here spouting off hate toward the character and the writers. Unrealistic expectations send people in to a frenzy over here!

@superguy1591: I have to disagree with you. She is getting a second on going book, they don't give second books to second class characters.

I think the hate is all in your heads. I buy her solo book, SM/WW and I will be getting her new book when it comes out.

I agree with a lot of the points brought up here, but another problem is the writers. She is arguably one of the most complex comic book character out that, and I think it's just that a lot of the writers haven't been up to the task of writing her. Somewhat in her solo title, and even more so in the Justice League where most peoples main impression of her comes from.

@toplel: I'm always amazed that people expect her to not be SM girlfriend in a title about them being a couple. She's had tons of great moments in the title and has played a pivotal (albeit not perfect) role in every story arc ... SM comes across as out of character more often than WW IMO ... Certainly the writing hasn't been perfect and WW has had some WFT moments, but for some reason fans seem to fixate on a handful of missteps rather than the moments like her beating down on Zod/Faora or schooling Clark on his lack of fighting skills or her figuring out how to beat DD with the suits Hephaestus created.

Gotcha, Writers come and go. WW's been around a looong time. She'll be fine. But yes, now I understand what you are saying. There has been some real disappointment and I'll agree hostility out there.

@thorverine: right? She's been out there for 70+ years and has had good, bad and ugly writers ... And she's getting a lot more exposure these days than she has in years which will lead to good things eventually. It's always a risk to have 3 or 4 different writers portraying the same character at the same time, but that will sort itself out too.

@csg_cl: Agree virtually every major character has gone through a period of inconsistent/unpopular writing.

@toplel: I think you're overstating it. I don't think it's great work either, too much focus on them coming to each other's rescue (I'm like you, I'd pass on feats for good characters). But I read this characterization as her being unsure of human culture in general. Similar to the way Perez wrote her being a stranger in a strange land. She's talking to a fellow Amazon with more outside world experience about how to properly behave. She's learning what's important to him in the early stages of a relationship, that fairly normal stuff. I also think DC is setting this up for the BIG fail so they are showing us some rather unhealthy differences between them. Clark Kent being something Diana has trouble understanding, the Olympian's "family dynamics" being something Clark doesn't understand and hurt by Diana's reluctance to introduce him to her family. I believe they are foreshadowing the break up already.

@toplel: since we haven't seen much of what she was up to with Steve in those 5 years we have no idea what the relationship with Steve was like. He was her "handler" as much as anything and is a totally different man than Clark. For one, he doesn't have a secret identity to maintain which is the biggest thing we see Diana not understanding. She sees and knows SM but doesn't know Clark ... I see no problem with how this is playing out ... Like I said before it's all fairly routine early stages of any relationship.

She is better in this series than the JL comic in terms of being a leader, but to be honest I like her better with a bit of attitude and swagger and a sense of humor than the sometime over serious depictions she had in the past.

It's not perfect, but to call it a fail is completely incorrect. It needs work for certain, but it's not the worst thing out there and is considerably better than some of the trash from years past.

Every character gets lowballed and belittled. She is part of dc's Trinity and very popular. Most people don't hate her actually.

I like wonder woman when she's not being ruthless and murderous and when she's not dating Superman but I'm fine with her new 52 version I guess.

I hate her because of the same reason i like her because she only sees immediate power instead of seeing the other ways they could hurt her.

I wanted to use a popular character that would debunk the idea that Wonder Women isn't relatable, since he has a problem with powerful characters, I used the least powerful character I could find.

She's a man hater.

Her creator is sexist.

The modern feminists give her a bad name.

She's boring.

Her weapons & equipment make no sense (*Megan Fox said that one).

Her stories don't resonate with any relevancy to their lives.

She's inconsistent...is she a peace maker or a head chopper?!

She's a joke, ridiculous costume with silly golden weapon of choice.
